So tomorrow (Jan. 4) is the last day of the season for duck hunting in NB, except for Zone 1's special sea duck season.
I had a lot of fun waterfowling this year. I learned a lot about decoys and found a lot of good new spots. I picked up a few tricks on hunting the coastal tides and towards the end of the season was consistently setting myself in prime spots to get my black duck limit (and fill the rest with buffleheads). Trouble is, my shooting was so terrible towards the season's end that I never got that limit....
Besides clay shooting, what else can I do to improve wingshooting? I do a lot of crow hunting and I think I'll pick up/make some cormorant decoys next summer too.
Anyway, I've got a long 10 months ahead of me now to lay out plans for next year's season. I think I'm going to make some eider sleds (might even get a chance to use them next month!), pick up some other decoys (especially oldsquaws!), and most importantly, get a dog and a boat. And practice!
How do you guys fill the time between seasons?
