Do you want to hunt Ducks this season after seeing all those infected Ducks dying along the Beach all over the Wassage Beach and around.

Better be careful before eating any Waterfowl this season .

Good Luck.

Botulism was recited as a possible cause. Who knows.? Daffy does not like this. It was all over the major news outlets.

Botulism has and always will be around when it comes to waterfowl. It flares up during the hot hot days of late summer in areas that the birds are concentrated in number. I strongly doubt you would find an infected bird this time of year. There was an outbreak of it in North Bay a few years back. It pretty much wiped out all the ducks that hang out at the city marina. They are coming back but slowly. Nobody has gotten sick from eating any of the birds that survived that year or any year since!

It is posted here on the MNR website.

Fish and Bird Die-off at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park
October 24, 2011

There is currently a fish and bird die-off in the Wasaga Beach area. The die-off is believed to be from Type E botulism.

Small-scale fish and bird die-offs are common on the Great Lakes.

Please do not handle dead or dying fish or birds. Park staff is aware of the problem and is working to dispose of dead fish and birds.

While visiting Wasaga Beach Provincial Park, please keep pets on a leash at all times and away from dead or dying animals. Beach Area 3 is the authorized pet beach area in the park.
