Hey guys and gals.
I was in search of a dueling tree/reactive target. I found that they were pretty pricey and shipping from the states a pain.
My cousins own a metal fab shop and they made one up for me. I have a prototype here, it's awesome! ar500 3/8 steel. I've tried 22lr and 22wmr and they don't even leave a mark. Just wondering if there is any interest on here for an Ontario made product like this?
Just putting out feelers.

I'll get some pics tomorrow.
It's not a "finished" product as yet. Still bare metal. However, I can tell you that it's all welded, not bolts or screws. It consists of a base, a frame and paddles. It can be assembled in 10 seconds and will easily fit into the trunk or backseat of even the smallest car.

you can pick up tree's at any Cabela's or wholesale sports in Canada.

i got mine on sale for i think it was $70

Angle iron, paddles, rod, stand.
Im building one out of two swinging targets so I can have either 8 or 10 paddles. Cost so far is $50
There are a few Canadian companies that have dueling trees. However like you said, $300+
Big difference between $50 and $300 but not in the materials. Wish I knew how to wield.

Ok Guys, got a few pics. Now remember, this was put together from scraps so it ain't pretty. Works perfect!

(Also, ar500 steel is supposedly good for most handgun and rifle calibers. It's not cheap.)

Looks good. Has the proper forward lean which is very important. I built something similar but out of 1/4" T1 for .22lr

One thing I will say would be to shorten the length of the stems on the paddles so that only the paddle is exposed; these are weak spots and a solid hit can bend it there.

I hit these targets with 22wmr (40gr jhp)at 20yards and not a mark. The grade of steel makes all the difference.
I had bought some steel targets at a lgs and the 22 mag made clean holes through them. Even the 22lr bent them up in short order.
I don't think these things are going to bend even at the weak spots. I do have to do more testing though....

^ Your target and grade of steel will definately last a few lifetimes of rimfire thrown at it. If you ever go up in caliber it might be an issue.

these are simple to make with the proper tools, I made one almost the same for nothing out scrap from work also made a Texas star, my next project is a double tap duelling tree

20% off at action targets. So the rimfire duelling tree and hostage rimfire target was $510 Canadian including tax/shipping/customs.
There is a nice guy in Edmonton selling duelling trees and such but wants $400 + shipping/tax.
So it ended up almost getting one for less than $100
If I ordered two trees it would have been the same price as Edmontons.
