Can you buy quality reloads from a reputable source in Canada? I ask this because I see posts complaining of handgun ammunition costs on this board. In the States, I can buy 500 rounds of 230gr 45acp for $105 and I can 500 rounds of 115gr 9mm for $75: before anyone asks, I know the guy that does these loads and I trust him. Regards, Richard:D

All ammo that is sold in Canada must be approved by the Natural Resources Explosives Branch. So if your friend here reloads, he can lend you ammo, or give you ammo, but he cannot sell you ammo, unless it has been approved.
Approval is time consuming and expensive.

John Parsons of Custom Reloading, also sells reloads here in BC, and all across Canada actually. He is approved by Natural Resources, having had to submit samples of his ammo to them for whatever inspection they do. his handle here is Curese and his email is jpar@shaw.ca he is also a sponsoring dealer.

Actually re-loaded ammo can NOT be sold or even given away, unless it is commercially re-loaded by a licensed facility.

Covered in EE Rules.
# No for sale (FS)/or want to buy (WTB)ads of fully assembled, non-commercially produced reload ammunition. This means no "home reloads". This does not apply to components.

It is legal for a person to use hand-loaded ammunition produced by another individual, as long as that person participates in the loading process.

CanadianBDX is the Alberta source for "remanufactured" handgun ammunition. Supply can be a bit flakey, but after about 4,000 rounds between a friend and I, I haven't seen a bad cartridge yet.

9mm 124g FMJ = $174 per 1000.

Kurt is very busy, so give him some lead time. I have shot over 10,000 rounds from him without a problem.

I heard recently that the OPP got a directive to pick up their fired 5.56 brass, because obtaining ammo is becoming a problem even for them because the big companies are devoting most of their resources to military customers. Also, their adoption of the C8 as force rifle is being delayed for same reason.
