Dummy 12 gauge rounds

Does anyone know if the major ammo companies like Remington, Federal and Winchester provide free dummy rounds for educational purposes? If not, does anyone know where I can obtain some? Looking for 12 gauge in 2 3/4" and 3"

I make my own dummys out of spent casings. I just stuff them with a chunk of shop towel so there is something for a proper crimp to form against. If they are to be used as snap caps I punch the spent primer out and fill the pocket with shoe goo to act as a cushion for the firing pin. As previously stated I paint then bright orange so there is no confusion.

If you don't want to make your own, A-Zoom and a few other companies make 12 guage snap caps. They shouldn't be too expensive, usually 2 in a package.

Most gun shops will carry them.

Brownells has them, but I would check with your local police supplier. They should be able to supply them in boxes of 25 rounds for about $25.00 or less.

Thanks guys, I already ordered some SnapCaps from The Shooting Edge and then placed a order from Brownells.

I lucked into a wide selection of dummy rounds when I was teaching hunter education in Saskatchewan. Ones and twos of the major cartridges, but not enough to load a mag. I think the provincial association had sweet talked one of the companies into swagging them. Haven't seen that kind of generousity agian.

Like the previous posters wrote, you can make them. I made some 7.62x39 dummies with spent cases, a screw threaded into the lead base of the bullet (trimmed for length) and epoxy. For visual ID I drilled some holes in the sidewalls. I tried just pulling the powder, but the bullets kept sliding into the case.
