I recently bought 2 box of dummy .308 win round usable for dry firing (a mainstream brand of dummy ammo, AZOOM Snap cap). The thing is, they dont fit in my m14 ?!?!?!

If I put on the in mag, and I let the bolt go on it, the bolt take the dummy into the chamber and stop just before the twist of the bolt of the lock. (so the bolt stay unlocked and the trigger is working.....)

If i give it a good smack on the handle, it lock the bolt correctly. The extraction is kinda smooth , which is surprising.

This rifle is normally working fine with regular ammo. (but a recently changed the stock, i do not think its related..)

Anyone has that kind of problem ? Should I worry this thing could happen with a live round ? Maybe the chamber is too tight ?

Sounds as if the extractor is not snapping over the rim of the dummy. What is the dummy made from?
No idea if this will occur with ammunition, I suspect not.

AZOOM are usually made from aluminum.

I would try the loading again. If it doesn't go fully into battery, instead of pushing/forcing a lock, I would pull back on the oprod to see if the round actually got picked up by the bolt extractor. If not, it is the situation as described above. Then, check the rim thickness to see if it corresponds with that of a normal round.

AZOOM might be making them oversized now to minismise wear from repeated usage....but I don't know.

Does your rifle allow you to drop the hammer (that is, fire the rifle) if the bolt is not locked in battery?

Does it go "CLICK" with the bolt not locked in place?

ya, i think its normal, but im not sure if the firing pin is actually hitting th snap cap (considering the firing pin mut be at an angle, i will retry with a small piece of paper on the snap cap.
