I came across a write up that stated these were made in China for Belgium.......... So much for using for a custom rifle project. Harold

I personally think a ZKK would be a much better "mauser" style action to build on than any real mauser (save perhaps a Brevex). They have all of the strength of design of the '98 with a few improvements like the Newton/M70 style ejector slot, lack of a receiver thumb cutaway, grooved receiver for scope mounts with recoil notch, deeper action side rails for strength etc . And they come in 3 action lengths including a proper magnum length with plenty of metal behind the lower locking abutment. I think you have to be careful with a 98 as there are/were so many places making them....

I highly doubt a dumoulin action is from china. They were made 50 -60 years ago and I don't know how much anyone had to do with china then but hey I could be totally wrong. Just use a winchester model 70 if you want crf and then there is no doubt.

Plagiarized this from another site, this information is second hand, not from me:

Sarco Mauser actions sell for $295USD in the states. Tradex has them in Canada for $495CND. They are used by Dumoulin for their high end rifles. These actions have a double square bridge that is dovetailed and also drilled and tapped for apparently hard to obtain rings. They have a Winchester 70 type safety. Customers have complained that the pitch of the mounting screw holes and dovetails were not standard. The actions are Marked Dumoulin Herstal on the left receiver wall. What they do not advertise is that these actions are not made in Belgium but that they are in fact manufactured in CHINA. Dumoulin never made their own actions. They relied on FN,Sako, and others for their actions. These new actions are milled in China under contract by Dumoulin. Since they are produced in large quantities the majority are sold to third parties such as Sarco. Of all the places I saw them available there is only one small retailer that advertises them as "Belgian contract made in China". This is the site that at the very bottom of the page,in additional information, says where they are made. h ttp://www.leverarms.com/mauser-action.html

So... looks like it's been said that TEC sells Chinese DeMoulin M98 actions?

Wow..... Who would have thought of that?

I am willing to bet those actions are just fine. I don't know who in China made them but I am willing to bet they are astute enough to keep their high end stuff up to snuff.

My Doumoulin resembles an FN commercial action with the round receiver top thus using the same scope bases as any Mauser.
If it is Chinese made then that is damn fine quality.

Sarco says (http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/dumoulin-mauser-action.aspx ) :

..." WHY PURCHASE THIS ACTION? To our knowledge, no one in the world presently makes a fully machined 98 Mauser action. Cost would be prohibitive! Just the value of the bolt assembly & trigger guard equate to more than the cost of the action. This may be your last chance to buy a fully milled 98 Mauser Action! *We know of no fully milled actions being produced in the world. These were produced many years ago and we bought the entire lot for posterity. These are the same actions Dumoulin uses to build their $10,000. rifles!

I believe the comment that these were "produced many years ago" .. might lead some to think they were of European manufacture. Also these particular actions have "Flats with threaded holes and dovetails" .. not round.
