Dupont Hi Skor 700x ??

700X is one powder I couldn't get along without. I've used lots of it in light rifle loads, for example - 5gr of 700X under a 93 gr Lee bullet in a 30-30. Gives you 1200 loads out of a pound. I wish I could find a few barrels again.

if it's anything like 800X, i'd hate it. i had 800X and found it to be a stupidly smoky and dirty powder (40S&W loads).

of course, if 700X is not even remotely similar to 800X, i have no input.

Dupont hasn't made powder for eons. That powder may or may not work. Depends on how it has been stored.

I have all kinds of Dupont powder from the 60's that is still fine, but as you say storage is the key.
Eons?? 700X was still being sold in Canada in these cans in 2003 by the largest powder distributor we have. That is when I got the last cans I have for excellent pricing. That makes sense since that was the year Hodgdon bought IMR and possibly they were trying to clean out old stock .
I know for sure it was 1963 the 1st 700X was made / sold since there was tons of this new powder shipped this way to reloaders at the time so that is the oldest it could be. Cheers

700X is an outstanding powder, Mount Sweetness. Wish I had one of your barrels! 700x works great in just about any pistol caliber you can mention. I used it for years. The ONLY reason I quit using it was the price. It went to C$135.00 for 5 pounds. I switched to Alliant's similar use powder called PROMO.
If I could get it cheap enough I would use it again. Hint hint....
