hello i need help. i am thinking about do myself handgun coating. i somehow brought both and i dont know which one to use anyone can help me?:)

well arma coat seem to be unavailable for now.
Duracoat is available from http://www.lauerweaponry.com/
UPS will rape you on that shipment,so be warned.
you're looking at $37 in fees at your door to pay

Seems like The Shooting Edge carries it as one of their products.

Never ship UPS or Fed Ex. They are freaken legalised pirates! Use USPS (in USA) or Canada Post!

Murdoc;

How long till your webpage is back up so I can support a canadian product and not deal with the ups gypsies?

I've never really considered the Armacoat or Duracoat for a firearm finish but I've seen some pretty nice looking rigs lately.

How durable is the Arma-coat? I dont beat my rifles but I do hunt with them. Just afraid if I lean one up against a tree or if it bump it on the door while getting out a the truck that it'll scratch and I'll have to get in the habbit of refinishing the rifle on a regular basis to keep it looking nice.

I have been looking at electroless nickel plating and the NP3 coating from Robar in the US. Im pretty much sold on their elctroless nickel/telflon coating except that i'll have to use a broker to ship the rifle down to them for coating.

If the Arma-coat is durable, cant hurt to give it a try.

I use armacoat to repaint synthetic stocks, only used it on metal once before for a friend who wanted blued bottom metal painted stainless, I baked it in my toaster oven, worked like a charm. Way Better than the Factory remington stainless finish.

Holds up real well on rifle stocks too.

do you have to bake arma-coat or will it cure without baking?

No you don't have to bake it, but it takes 28 days to cure 100%, you can handle it in a few hours but to reach maximum hardness it takes a while, most paints are like this, hell even concrete is like this.

If you bake the metal parts you don't have to wait the 28 days.

The part was small enought to fit in the toaster oven and worked like a charm, I wouldn't even think about baking a rifle stock.

I understand from these in the know that black high temp engine paint once baked on is as good as either of these products. I have seen the results and they seem good to me

Is Arma Coat available as a clear coat?
I have a Baikal semi auto 12ga and have been warned the barrel blue doesn't hold up that well.

I don't have the specs on Arma-coat. I work in an industrial paint shop and have access to a paint booth and IR lamps, looking to paint a fiberglass stock, just wondering from some of the more experienced applicators on here if the IR lamps would be enough to kickstart the curing process so that the stock can be handled within a shorter time than air drying?

IR lamps will work at an extremely low setting, but you will get hotspots and have to be careful as the biggest concern will be melting or warping the stock, curing the stock at 125F over a two day period works well too if you have to make quick fix of an oven.Best is to make a decent sized metal box and hook up a few oven elements and you will have a very good setup for curing Arma-Coat . Yes arma-coat is available in Clear the shooting edge has some in stock, but call them first to find out.
