Duracoated 1911 SAM picture

No, I didn't touch ejection port. Spent casing ejects just fine, extracting live rounds can be a bit difficult, but on the other hand I've never had any misfires and any other malfunctions with it so far ( about 800 rounds trough or maybe even more)

Youve painted yourself? Thats dedication
Out of curiosity did you have to open up the ejection port at all? Ive allways thought this would be a sweet conversion to do.

Good to know ive allways been curious about this conversion.

very neat project.

I haven't seen these conversion barrels for a few years. If someone did a run of relatively inexpensive purpose built 1911s in this calibre I bet they'd be good sellers. I'd be all over it.

just checked out the J&G web site and they offer a 6" 1911 conversion. A long slide 7.62 would be pretty cool.

Nice Job!

gun looks great!

very interesting conversion, something i might have to add to my list of experiments to try.....

i like the skate tape front strap, did you just put a patch of that on and then just put on the grips to cover the edges?
sneaky and good thinking.
i may have to give that a try.

as for the paint did you look at Arma-Coat system before you went with the amazon paint in a can?
ive looked at their stuff and have been tempted to try it.

Yes, grips do cover the tape :) As for Armacoat system - i didn't have a compressor at that time so I opted for a can, but I think the system will give me more flexibility.

Only 9 or 38 super will work with this barrel. Also, I've tried it with Norc with pretty bad result - a lot of light strikes and misfeeds. SAM is a much better candidate for this conversion

Did you start with a .45 acp or 9mm 1911. If .45 I might have to pick up another norinco 1911 and do this. That is if I can find a barrel.

Duracoat in a can. Am i reading that right? This is what you used to paint the gun? If so did you fully strip the original bluing from the gun or did you just follow the duracoat instructions of using their degreaser before spraying?

Just decreased and spray. I did cover all the insides - rails etc

OP I must compliment you on your superb photography, quite the professional.

Sometimes my toes get in the picture when I photograph my guns.

Very nice SAM you got there.
