Playing around with my new bcl 102 and its wonky dust cover gap got me wondering, how many of you religiously close your dust cover or do you just forget its there and leave it open ?

meh, on my AR's I just leave it...

It won't get dusty in the safe, and it won't stay closed on the range, so what's the purpose? If I was draging it through the bush/jungle, I'd close it religiously, but for conditions we can legally expose the firearm to, it's not worth the brain fart to remember IMO. There is ZERO harm in closing it, it just doesn't have any value for us.

When I'm operating I close it, rest of the time it's open.

.... It's open all the time.

Unless you're running around in uniform on exercise or in combat, there's really no point to close a dust cover to keep what little dust you'll get on a range (or hunting) out IMHO.

I close it just because I was trained to.

I close it when I remember to. My other semis don't have dust covers and seem to do just fine without them. Not planning on running around in the sand with it any time soon, so I'm not overly concerned about it.

I leave the dust cover on my Modern Varmint rifle closed all the time. Keeps stuff out of it when walking through the bush and keeps snow out when I'm out sitting in bad weather in the winter.

A dust cover on a AR safe and range queen isn't as important but I find the dust cover on a rifle that will get used hunting like my MV to be one of the most beneficial features.

This out of spec dust port s#!t on the 102's that can be used out in the bush is a facking joke. I really want a 102 but I won't give them any money until they get their s#!t together!

Close it. Second nature I've learn by doing so many push up about it 15 years ago :p

NEA/BCL needs to pay attention to small details like that. If they cant make something that simple, just remove it instead of that hal assed attempt of a dust cover.

If it is installed and an option or part of the rifle, it should work properly. It should stay closed when you want it to.

That wasn’t the question but thanks for another reminder of how butt hurt you are over your 102...it had been 10 minutes since you’ve mentioned how you had to pay for shipping and I had forgotten.
