Dust Cover Spring question

How do you put the spring/clip/lock bolt back on, and how do you compress the spring to get it back on? I bought a railed dust cover for my EoTech and I can't get the return spring back on. Any tricks or ideas?

I just compress it using hand strength but I will then hold the spring down with a butter knife and afix the locking tab on the top of the spring guide. It takes a few tries but you will get it. Kind of hard for me to explain it over the comp.

I did sorta the same thing, pushed it by hand and used a small screwdriver in the spring to hold it while I grabbed more spring to compress. Helped having the cover in a banch vise.
