Pulled the Ruger 77 MKII out of the safe as the oldest son wants to use it again for deer. It's been 10 years since he shot it after getting himself a T3 6.5x55 I made up the pet load of 54gr of RE#22 and a 115gr Partition. Will zero it tomorrow as we have 3 weeks until season opens locally. It cut 1/2" or better groups when it was put away last...anyone else use the 25-06 with 115-120gr Partitions?......Harold

I haven`t fired my Winchester featherweight for about over 25 ~ 30 years or more.. can not remember last time it was used. I got this gun for the wife to hunt antelope down in Blindloss, Alberta, ha, ha LOL. The old reloads were Federal 9 1/2, 55 gr of IMR 7828; and 120gr Nosler Partitions. Now she just sits with my BBR .338 win mag. (also unfired for over 25 ~ 30 years or more)... Rifle that is.

My oldest son dropped a 3x3 elk at 400 yards with complete chest penetration with 120gr Hornady HP's It made it 40 yards across the field and collapsed .Black bear as well with the 120gr.Loaded with Hornady 100 gr bullets it was death on antelope but a bit explosive on bigger bodied deer although none hit went far.......mostly bang-flops......Harold

Hi Harold I also have a Ruger in 25/06 with a bull barrel and the pet loads I used were deadly accurate. Both my sons shot their first moose with it. It has been retired for several years as well. Maybe I as well should dust off the cobwebs and press it back into service. Thanks for the post and reminding me that I still have it.

Good day Harold
I have a hawkeye 25 06 and also shoot partitions
115gr with cci 450's. Near max load of retumbo produces very respectful groups.
Cheers

------My Sako 995 in 25-06 has a mag length to take a 50 BMG--and a short chamber--I had the chamber lengthened--Now seat bullet to base of the neck---This rifle shoots 1/2 in. with 115 -120 Partitions using 59.5 grs Rel 25---Your mileage may differ,of course.----Bent Barrel

Me I'm shooting a browning bar in the 25!!!! ..... 100 gr barns tsx or ttsx with re-19 ... I have to check my notes but I think it's 49.5 grs of re-19 or ???59.5...
Holy smokes I nearly fell over at the groups it produced!!!...... and now I have to fight with girlfriend cause she likes it
And another thing !!!! I cant believe the damage that the 25-06 does to deer and coyotes.... p.s a coyotes worst nightmare... beside the .220 swift lol

Bent barrel gave me a starting point with the 120gr Hornady bullets with R25 and my sako L61 R and it shoots superbly now, 58gr is where I settled. FS
