Dutch AR-10 or early US models

M16 is a FA.So it is banned. A FA AR15 is banned because it is FA. Then they put the AR15 into its own category. It is not "deemed" restricted. It is specifically restricted black and white. The OIC has by larged sealed most holes.

I know all about F/A, but the wording for restriction is indeed black and white :

2. The firearm of the design commonly known as the M-16 rifle, and any variant or modified version of it, including the

(list omitted as irrelevant)

The M-16 is the "design" which is restricted as per the wording of the OIC, the M-16 is the U.S. military designation of a "variant" of the Armalite AR-15 which was built under license by Colt back in the 60's (The AR-15 preceded the M-16 by <at least> two years by my calculations), therefore by that logic the AR-15 and it's "variants" have been erronesouly classified as "restricted" for the past 10+ years (again, the AR-15 isn't a "variant" of the M-16 and never was, it's the other way around) and we've been both asleep at the wheel, and under a Liberal government.

This argument surfaces on this site every once in awhile, but the question is has it been submitted to the RCMP, Justice/Public Safety Ministers, or even presented in court ?

Sorry for the hijack, I'll readily admit that I've been obsessed with fiding a way around the OIC's ever since they came out back in the days of C-17.:D

I have shot and handled the Sudan model they felt really good in the hands, I remeber when SOF Magazine was just getting off the ground they handed pictures of guys with this rifle in Africa.
The other thing to they had was the threaded barrel for puttin the sonic suppresor.
Thsoe threads on the ourside of the flash hider were for a BFA. I suppose you could put a sound suppressor on them.

Those were Portuguese mercenaries in Angola. Portuguese army used regular and heavy barrel AR10s during their colonial wars in Angola & Mozambique.

I had an AR-10 rifle that was made up as a semi-auto only with Sudanese parts and a new U.S. made receiver. Original waffle magazines were very cheap and I got 10 with the rifle.

The rifle represented an interesting stop on the way to the AR-15/M16 series of rifles. However, it did have human engineering problems that have been worked-out in the decades the smaller caliber rifles have been in service. The controls were awkward as compared to the AR/M16 series -- this was probably due to the size of the cartridge use, 7.62x51 NATO.

The sights were good and very similar to those on the AR-15A2/M16A2. The rear sight was windage and elevation adjustable. But, there was a set screw that held the sight aperture in the correct windage location. This set screw would loosen up after about 5 to 10 shots. Some blue Loctite cured the problem.

No problem with the furniture; it was quite robust, though it had seen some service. The bore on my rifle was in extremely good condition, given where it came from.

The problem I had with the rifle was its felt recoil. The straight-line stock seemed to amplify the recoil. (Don't ask me. I don't know if this is true or not; that's what it FELT like to my shoulder.)

I eventually sold the rifle to a Reservist officer who wanted an AR-10 example in his personal collection. He got a great deal.

what about taking a saw cut dewatt AR10(CA) and welding it back together. now it is a variant of a non-restricted SEMI AR10, no?

No. If it leaves the factory as FA it is always considered prohib. What you are proposing would make it CA.

If it leaves the factory as semi-only than it would be non-restricted. This is why the R0634 is only restricted whereas if you put a semi trigger mech in a R0635 it would still be prohib. Same thing with the VZ58's that Marstar brought in, they were assembled on FA receivers as semi only.

IIRC the company that made the new US receivers was called Paragon. I think that Sendra may have made some as well.

Mastergunner, was your rifle considered non-restricted or prohib? FRT No.?

Mine is a semi only an is really nise nice to shoot an very accurate from a bench. It's also brand new. George
