Duty on shot shells for US bird hunters coming to Canada

And as long as all unfired rounds return to the USA with the American citizen,no laws are broken.
 
I crossed the border at Cornwall last Sunday. My licence is CLAYBSTR and the Canadian Border agent asked if I had any firearms or ammo with a licence like that. This time I didn't, but we got to talking about the US rules. He said he didn't care about them at all. All he said was we have a 5,000 round limit for Canadians to import.

Joe (the webmaster) knows more about crossing the border than anyone anywhere. He is a US citizen living in upper NY State and he does it almost every weekend, and he talks to BATF almost weekly. He's very up to date.

While Canada Customs could care less about the USA laws, Homeland Security most certainly cares, and they have been setting up random check stops on the USA side of the border for some time now.

You are absolutely right. It is a fool's game to try and that was my comment to the agent and that's when he stated the Canadian position.

Even one shell can get you in trouble.
