Does anybody know anything about E. Ford, British engraver(?) circa 1900? I have an English double that he worked on in 1906. I haven't been able to turn up much about him.

If the name is engraved on the side of the action, or the barrel ribs, that would be the maker's name, not the engraver's. I couldn't find a reference to an "E. Ford", but there were a lot of small one-man operations in England back in the day. There should be an address on the barrels or ribs as well as the maker's name.

Pics would help.

The gun is a Pape, I tracked down the records for it and I have a list of everyone that worked on it in house. The records indicate the action was sent out to E. Ford. I think Ford was the engraver, the engraving is very a distinctive style. My camera is currently MIA but I will see if I can find a picture.
