Does anyone here know anything about the EAA Tanfoglio series of handguns and if they are being imported into Canada.

Depending on the price I maybe interested in purchasing one chambered in 10mm...

I got mine from Freedom Ventures....SWEET gun

Is your's a 10mm?

If it is can you give a bit of a range report?

Have you had any feeding or reliability issues?

How much did it cost?

What model is it?

I have the Model "L" in 9MM with a .40 cal Conversion kit. Great guns with excellent customer support. If you go for the 10MM size frame you can get Conversion Kits for .22LR, 9MM, .38 Super, .40 S&W, & .45acp.

Yeah, they do look nice... would like to see how they'd stand up after a couple thousand rounds of full house 10mm, though...

Mine's a 10mm and fit and function are great. Gun feeds and performs excellent. The gun is a solid "chunk" of steel that fits into your hand like it was meant to be there. I have other 10mm's, S&W 1026 (sentimental favorite), Glock 20 and a Delta Elite. The gun was about $1200 IIRC.

I was just looking at some comparison pictures of the Tanfoglio's and the Bren Ten...

They are actually very similar looking guns.

What are you're thoughts...

i have both... a Bren Ten Standard and a EAA Witness 10mm. the similarities are that they are both chambered in 10mm, are based on the CZ75 platform, are steel guns, and that is about it...

the EAA Witness Series pretty much is a copy of the CZ75, with the added option of putting the safety on in DA with the hammer in the safety shelf. for a cheaper handgun, it is a great buy!

the Bren Ten uses a barrel bushing that is removeable, has an additional cross bolt safety on the slide (kind of usleless...), feels slimmer in the grip, has a 5" barrel, less in weight, and in my opinion, the Bren Ten looks better. Finding one now a days is almost impossible.

the 10mm Witness is a good gun though. i like the weight as it helps tame the 10mm when shooting full house loads. the 'Wonderfinish' is a nice grey, and the sights are very useable. the beavertail is comfortable but the DA length of pull is fairly long... this along with the fairly chubby grip, makes it difficult for my friends with smaller hands to shoot well.

i had to import my 10mm Witness through a broker way back when they were first introduced... they should be available as i have seen EAA firearms around for awhile now.

Are you aware that EAA Witness pistols aare simply the branding used by Tanfoglio's importer for the U.S. There are several models made by Tanfoglio in 10MM including the Model "L" that I have in 9MM and 40cal. The Tanfoglio line is imported exclusively by Freedom Ventures a sponsor of this site.

Are you aware that the Tangfolio L and Witness Steel are 2 different handguns both produced by Tangfolio.

The L has 5 inch barrel and adjustable sights.

The Witness has 4.5 inch barrel and fixed sights, and is several hundred dollars cheaper than the Tanfolio L model. These cost about $549 CAD...TSE was bringing them in but I think are sold out...?

Camp,

Another option is to have Questar bring in a EAA Witness Match in 10mm which is a great gun...they usually run around $500 USD...so by the time they import with fee, taxes and shipping would be around 800-900...about the same as the Tangfolio your looking at....

IMHO, the Witness Match looks better.:D

WITNESS ELITE MATCH DESCRIPTION:

New for 2006, EAA introduces the Witness Elite “Match”. Destined to become a classic, the “Match” is produced in the Tanfoglio custom shop. Your “Match” incorporates many features of Tanfoglio’s competition guns into a streamlined, no nonsense, practical pistol. The “Match” serves equally well as a sport shooting pistol or defensive carry sidearm. It is an excellent alternative to those who prefer a single action pistol, but do not choose the 1911. The “Match” is loaded with the same high quality features you’ll find on other Elite series pistols. Custom features include a 4 3/4 ” match grade barrel, single action trigger with over travel stop, adjustable rear sights, interchangeable front sight posts, extended safety, extended magazine release, hart shaped hammer, and custom two tone finish.

The EAA Witness is the less expensive model with fixed sights I believe and can be ordered from Freedom Ventures. If it comes with fixed sights it is likely the Combat Standard gun. The Witness Match is the Tanfoglio Match which I know cand be ordered from Freedom Ventures as can the Combat Standard. The Combat Sport is probably better value though given it comes with excellent adjustable sights.

There is the site that lists the available Tanfoglio models.

You will pay more for the new pistol imported by Canadian Importer simply because there is not the volume demand here like there is in the US. No news there. Pricing from Tanfoglio is determined by volume purchases and EAA sells more guns in a month I suspect than Freedom Ventures would sell in a year.

Would be interested to hear what your all in costs are for the Witness Match landed at your door. Good luck with warranty issues with your EAA. From what I understand EAA service reputation is about as bad as it gets for Americans. Can just imagine how Johnny Canuck would make out.:bangHead:

I have no plans of getting one oout of the states right now...

TSE brought some Witness guns in last year and I picked up a 10mm for 549 CAD.

Took some tweaking to get it reliable but no warranty problems so far.

Thanx.

Canuck44,

yup, quite aware that EAA imports Tanfoglio products in the USA. i will check out Freedom Ventures for the latest in Tanfoglio stuff. i bought my Witness 10mm before you could buy any Tanfoglio Witness pistols in Canada... that was more than a decade ago now. cost wasn't that much to bring it back then... :p
