Eagleye. You seem to be a experienced fan of the partitions. I am interested in why you chose the 125 over the 140.
I am trying to chose a bullet for my 6.5x55 for WT. Thank you

He might like the idea of a faster moving bullet, it might be a little less recoil, or it might be that these group better in his rifle than the 140's do. Can't speak for him though. FS

Dunk; I use both in my 6.5mm rifles, but have found little need for the heavier bullet for deer.
The 125 shoots a bit flatter. [3050+ fps vs 2750+]

I have yet to recover a 125P from a deer, after shooting about 25 with this bullet.
I feel that if these are not staying inside, why go to a heavier bullet?

I do have a recovered 125P in my collection, but it came out of a moose, not a deer.

While I do not necessarily go moose hunting with the 6.5 and the 125P,
In this case it was opportunity that presented itself.

I was deer hunting, and an immature Bull Moose showed up unexpectedly.
I gave him one in the ribs at about 200 yards.
He dropped in about 10 seconds right where he stood.
Bullet was under the skin on the offside.

I had an interesting experience many years ago with a 6.5x55 and the 140P
I had a doe draw, and was hunting with two companions with the same tags.

5 does crossed in front of me about 120 yards away, ran up the hill and over a
little ridge, out of sight.
One doe then returned, and stood on the ridge. She was about 200 yards away.

I up with the 6.5 and gave her one through the lungs.
She dutifully dropped right there. I wandered up to dress her.
Imagine my surprise to find a second doe down behind her with a broken back, hit just above the shoulders!

That 140 had killed two deer, not one. I never saw the second deer until I walked up that hill.

Penetration of the 140 is surely NOT in question, lol.

Regards, Eagleye.

Thanks Eagleye

Saw a 140gr Partition from a 6.5x55 go through a moose shoulder blade and exit the off side at 75 yards.........Harold

This would NOT surprise me at all!! Those 140 Partitions penetrate like crazy.
The rear cavity behind the Partition is quite long, leaving plenty of weight to push through.
Eagleye.

I am also a big fan of the 125 gr Partition, I killed at least a dozen deer with that combination that went about 10 steps combined.

Grouped very well for me, 2875 fps at the muzzle, killed really well.

I shot my first whitetail a couple weeks ago with a 125gr Partition. I used the previous owner's(a CGNer) load which was on the mild side (2750fp/s) and due to that recovered the bullet. I will post pics here when I get a chance to get the photos up in the next couple days. It was almost a frontal shot, penetrated the front shoulder, made chicklets of two ribs, went through the lungs, kidneys and stomach and I found it on the opposite side under the skin just above the hip.

I once shot a whitetail of opportunity while moose hunting with a 200 grain partition. Nice buck that was staring me down at 125 yards, quartering towards me, bullet went through main bone in front shoulder, one lung vaporized, broke the hip, and exited his backside.... Very large deer too, was sick at the loss of good meat! Best bang flop I have ever seen though....

Good information from eagleye. Nosler partitions are good in accuracy and terminal results.
I have moved away from them as the soft frontal lead turns into flower of lead and impregnates meet in and around the wound channel.
That said, lead will continue to show up in your ground meat unless you demand having your meat ground first in the day.
