Can anyone tell me if EAL s/n 100X is in the " military" or "civie" serial # range?
Tired 10 round unmarked magazine, bubba'd to V notch 300/600 rear sight, unprotected civy ramp type front sight and a barrel band of sheet metal attached by the rear front swivel screw. Also missing ejector screw. I have a decent 300/600 to put on her and can get an ejector screw locally. Butt pad is dark but not too hard. There will NOT be pics until the oil and 00000 steel wool get ~ 40 / 50 years of crud and neglect off her! :D Kayceel

From your description, it doesn't seem to be an EAL. Is it marked EAL? This would be the first EAL I've heard of with a barrel band as well.

SN is for civilian EAL. Posting some pix's of your EAL in its current condition will help you with a correct restoration. Lots of good advice on this Board.

Left side of receiver is marked EAL and the s/n. I think the " barrel band" is probably courtesy of bubba too. Work load, house renovations, spring yard cleanup ( if it ever quits snowing ) and auctions like the one this came from today are going to delay a detailed cleaning for a couple of weeks. Kayceel

As you probably know, make sure your cleanup does not involve sanding the wood...at all. Guaranteed to remove value with every stroke...

I too would love to see the before pics...if you have some digital pics, you can email them to me and I'll post em if that would help.
