Is there an FRT number for EAL rifles? The FRT disk that I have access to doesn't list EAL as a manufacturer. I have a chance to pick up an EAL that isn't currently in the system.

sporterized Longbranch is about the closest you'll get

I have another sporter that was scrubbed but has one US ordinance flaming bomb left on it so its a sporterized savage

But I think there is a generic enfield No4 sporterized FRT number

FRT #64984. They refer to it as a sporterized No. 4 Mk. I*, the photo is of a civilian version, with a horrible muzzle brake added to it. In the AKA section, they list the Military Version, but there is only the one FRT #, and there is no -xx suffix for the different versions.
Given that there are the two recognized versions of the EAL, one of which may be still used by the Gov't., it is amazing that these rifles are not better identified.

They were issued for Ranger use in NU, but I think all were withdrawn, and the purchased No. 4s were issued. SAR Techs on the Hercs. had them as well.

they replaced the survival rifles with a funky orange stocked rifle that would float, I think it was 30-06, I'll see if I can find it :)

found it,

Rifle, SAR, .30-06 caliber, Ruger, Model M77 NSN 1005-21-909-7610

strange though they have the manufacturer listed as diemarco

and a 14.5" barrel

14.5" barrel in .30-06? There better be earplugs in the survival kit!
Maybe Diemaco modified the rifles for CF use.

Sporterized No.4 MkI* is a close as I could find, so I guess that what I will go with.
I believe that Warren Wheatfield is rewriting his article about the EAL and will possibly include a 3rd variant. I haven't heard if he is done the article yet though.

My EAL is registered with FRT 8091681.

I bought it from Jose Reis in Montreal, so I presume he was the verifier.

Yes there is a .303 Survival Rifle in the system. It exists separate from the Ruger 30-06 and all the other misc Lee Enfield No.4s, and was issued to Mapping and Charting Establishment for many years. They were returned to stores c.1999 when the storage requirements were tightened, and MCE had gotten out of Arctic surveying. I talked to the small arms item manager about 2 yrs ago, and he knew exactly which rifle it was. There were about hundred in the Depot at the time.
