I wish I had a clue...
I was told that the scopes were bought and installed on rifles for the Canadian Rangers. Problem was, scopes don't work so well up north...
I wonder how well an Elcan sight would work on an Enfield?

I had one of those mounts
my EAL is not drilled for a scope
Given a choice I'd take one without the holes...but one with the right mount and scope would be nice too.

looks like standard a29 mount, here are a couple pics of the same mount on PH sporters. the mount system actually sucks , not solid at all , lots of flex in that skinny little piece of aluminum.
Did you have the problem mentioned with the screws coming loose and/or stripping out? Or is the actual mount flimsy?

I never had any trouble with screws coming loose, the mount itself is thin and when the scope is mounted you can feel flex when you apply lite pressure on the end of the scope. I never shot with one enough to comment on if it will hold zero.I would be afraid of ever bumping it for fear of moving something.
what they should have done is lengthen the base forward another inch and drill a screw hole into the top of the reciever to give it another point of contact.
the mount itself is nice and low compared to other enfield mounts that seem to have the scope sit quite high.
