A 2 year old is 24 inches tall and a 4 year old is up to 40 inches tall. This one stood 8 inches shy of a 4'X8' sheet at my back door.
And it is illegal to shoot a 2 year old in BC.
But thanks for your stupid contribution to my posy hoyt.
Yeah, I don't know much about bears...... So that is how you aged it at 4 years? Why don't you lay your rifle out on that carcass... you grow them mighty small in your area... don't really care... in this area a 2.5 year old bear is legal and tasty, and when I want BBQ meat, that is exactly what I target.
I've hunted black bears for years and I have learned a lot about improving my bear baiting and hunting game through your posts. However you should know that I am extremely disappointed that in all your well thought out, informative, descriptive, educational, helpful posts and pm's regarding bear hunting, baiting and sizing you never mentioned that I could just hang a 4'x8' sheet of plywood behind my bait and know how old the bear that comes in is. N00B !!
45lbs of just meat no bones.
From hoyt's 2 year old.
A 5+ year old gets 60 to 80 lbs of meat in the fall. But what do I know I have only shot 6 of them around here.

Yup, that's about what you get from a 2 year old... that should keep your BBQ going for a month. Congrats.
