Hi All, so I was successful in bidding on the (2) Sharps reproductions at (2) different auctions recently and got them both for very reasonable prices, at least from my perspective.

The first of them arrived today courtesy of Canada Post, this one is a Pedersoli reproduction that call 1874 Sharps Infantry Rifle (.45-70). It has the flip up front sight and a vernier rear sight that has seen better days. It came in the original box and as far as I can tell it has been fired very little. Here are some pics.

Nice a Sharps I have one of 74 military sharps reproductions made by Shiloh.Mine has double set triggers and a shotgun style butt with a checkered steel butt plate.i also have a Shiloh percussion 63 sporting rifle and a Shiloh 63 carbine plus a C Sharps 1875 sporter.What other Sharps did you pick up?

The Armsport Sharps reproduction rifle arrived yesterday, not anywhere near as nice condition as the Pedersoli but I knew that and got it for a very good price.

It comes with the double set trigger configuration which I have never had before. The rear sight is also unusual , it's a flip up open sight with elevation adjustment (see pic). Also it appears to have some sort of a safety mechanism on the hammer which I had not seen till now.

The barrel is mottled brown so I'm assuming the bluing was worn off or removed in some fashion but the bore is bright and rifling looks good

Overall I'm pleased but final verdict will have to wait till I get to shoot it.

Any comments or feedback on the oddities I noted would be appreciated.

That's an interesting looking critter you have there...would like more detailed photos of that firing pin oddity, there also looks to be some lip or something in the breech block at the chamber.
be very careful with those Italian double set triggers, very delicate mechanisms, if the settting screw is the least bit resistant to being turned just use "as is" would be my recommendation. When in working condition they are a very nice trigger pull but if they break I've read that Italy is the only source of parts and they are not an OEM factory built item, they are a cottage industry jobber built item.
it appears to have a sort of bastardized "Hartford Collar" and my first thought when you said it has a mottled brown barrel finish was that it is a "kit gun" but the photos show a very nice CC to the action. Kit guns are usually "in the white" from end to end.

Hi Fingers, thanks for the feedback - additional pics below hope they help. I checked the screw for the double set trigger it moves smoothly and appears to work - I screwed it all the way in and only the front trigger works, moved it back out to its original position and both triggers work - pull on the back trigger is substantial - front trigger you barely have to apply pressure. What is a Hartford Collar?

Hartford collar is the ring in front of the action that the barrel tenon goes thru.

That "safety thingy" is something I've never seen before, appears to work similar to a Ruger SA transfer bar.
