im not saying i dont believe you but honestly this discussion could easily be solved by a test of cold blue .

pic means squat cos both rifles are not in the same condition , a safe queen vs. one that is well used .

features also means nothing , i got a 2006 , same mag catch as yours and its has the "30" and the selector can be moved to full auto but unlike yours , its not a chrome .

I have to agree with this. I'll try mine with a spot of cold blue this week.

... Rare or not a 40yr old MG convert would be deemed bad.

The vz58l isn't a convert of a mg or a full auto rifle. Neither is a cz858.
A 'mg' version of the military rifle is just speculation, and irrelevant. And no one would even consider any of these rifles as possible converted if people kept unfounded speculations to themselves.

762mm, I bought an nr 858 in 09 that has a bright chrome like bore, like yours. For giggles today, I used stevo's suggestion of the cold blue on the muzzle. It blued.

I, like you, thought for certain I had a chrome lined barrel. Now I have my doubts.
