So who owns one? (please share photos if you do) I'm particularly interested in Oberndorf Types A, B & C. However I'd also like to see any early Mauser sporter from any of the numerous rifle makers. Does anyone have an old Rigby sporting Mauser? There was a sweet one at Martini & Hagn not long ago in 303 British but someone scooped it up.

Here's an example of a gorgeous Oberndorf Type A rifle. It's not mine, but I wish it was!!! The same rifle (different photos) can be seen in these two threads:

Here is my 275 Rigby High Velocity in the "Special Lightweight" configuration. This rifle was completed by John Rigby & Co. in 1929.

Tomorrow it is going whittail hunting in Ontario, and next week in Pensylvania.

The "Poor Man's Mauser"

Not Mauser marked, but a very nice 8x57 conversion by GECO. Gustav Genschow and Company circa early 1920s. This one is the long barreled "African Model" with flip up rear sights.

The only Orbendorf I own is an Orange free State 1895 7x57 action, beautiful workmanship, just waiting to be made into a square bridge mauser in 6.5x54man! I am not lucky enough yet to have a a sporter in my vintage collection, but my dream gun would be one of the Mausers actions made to handle the 303 brit! Keep up with the beautiful pictures! Dale Z!
