While watching "Norm Christie's" documentry on the Canadian contribution in the Korean war on Thursday night ....i was suprised to see a early round type cocking knob on one of the No.4 rifles,..rather than the straight type ....it showed a good closeup of the bolt on a No.4 rifle while a infantryman in THE PPCLI worked the bolt and fired his rifle...the round type cocking knob on the bolt wasn't hard to miss..i was very suprised,..as i thought all Long Branch No.4 rifles had the straight cocking knobs with the grooves milled in each side,......did early production Long Branch rifles have the round type cocking knob.....very curious:confused:

Yes they did on the No. 4 MKI and they show up on the early MKI* too untill the supply was exhausted.

Here's the cocking piece on my 41 LB. Beside it is a new piece for an SMLE.

Thanks for the great photo of the cocking piece on your 1941 LB , that rifle llooks to be in great shape,..do you refinish it.?...i was always told that the early production LB No.4 rifles ..ie 1941 production were used hard ,..yours looks to be in mint shape.....i have never seen a 1941 LB,...lots of 43,44...apparently 1943 was the highest production Good shooting.

I got the rifle from JP. Metal finish is very good, excellent bore, wood was somewhat sanded as I was told before buying. I replaced the buttstock with a new LB Long I got from a CGNTZ member. 41's are so rare that I didn't care. It was FTR'd but not suncorited. A very prized possession!

Hey, you know what I've noticed? Lots of people have some great items, many people have Long Branch snipers, 41 LB's, and other great stuff and you never get to see any of it. I wish more people would put some pics up of their great possessions, let others enjoy them too.
