I want to start doing some very simple mods to my Shadow 1. To begin I'd like to reduce the weight of the double action pull. What is the simplest way to achieve this? Any other simple mods you can recommend are also welcome. Keep in mind I want to stay IPSC production legal. Thanks.

IPSC now allows production to change the springs out as long as your DA trigger pull isn't less than 5lbs. That's pretty much the only thing that makes sense - hammer spring change

What weight for the hammer spring? If I change the hammer spring are there other springs that need to be changed in tandem?

Purchase Wolf recoil and main springs. The factory weight is around 17 / 20 lbs so begin at 15 and work your way down. You must be aware that as you get down to 11lbs you will have factory ammo issues. Reloading becomes paramount when you reduce the spring tension.

A 13# spring should help bring down the DA pull to around 7.5# and you can most likely get away with the factory firing pin spring and firing pin. If you go down below 13#, you'll need a reduced power firing pin spring and possibly an extended firing pin. A polish job on the contact points will reduce the pull another 1/4# to 1/2#. A thing to note, when you reduce the DA, the SA will also lighten up. When you get the DA to 6.5# to 7#, your SA might be sub 2#.

“What is the simplest way to achieve this.”

Squeezing the trigger double action compresses the factory hammer spring. I believe the factory hammer spring is 43 or 44 coils.
Count the coils in your spring & cut 10% off. 44 coils X 10 % is 4 coils. Instant trigger reduction, but be aware that while my WIN SPP’s will still be set off with the coil reduction, harder primers like CCI might not. Or might. You asked for the simplest way.....

Thanks. Exactly the kind of info I'm looking for.

Easiest way? Go to doubletapsports and ordered the CGW kit listed below for $86. Best money you will spend on this pistol. 11.5 mainspring will have 100% ignition with CCI 500s with zero polishing.

8.5 main will require some tuning, and is only compatible with Federal primers.

Is this IPSC PRODUCTION legal? Aftermarket parts vs CZ made? OP indicated Production legal...

To OP: 11lb or 12lb springs worked for me, in some cases Extended firing pin was needed for reliable 100% ignition with CCI primers.

Thanks. Exactly the kind of info I'm looking for.

I have installed the 13# mainspring and cut 2 coils from it. Trigger breaks at about 2.5 to 2.75 pounds.

I'd recommend cutting just one full coil at first- live with that a while and see if you like it. You can always cut another coil off, but I wouldn't cut any more- you get a very light trigger, but it's kinda mushy.
