East German SKS

If you can find one, good luck. It will be a unique, one off opportunity. They aren't here, or anywhere in North America in mass supply.

It is one of the rare trinity types of SKS. East German, North Korean and Vietnamese.

Hell, in Canada there aren't many Romanian or Albanian SKS either. They'd be worth grabbing too if found. The Albanian doesn't even have an FRT number yet so if one is here, it came in well before C68.

The majority of Albanian SKS were in the hands of Bosnian or Albanian fighters in the FYR. After that war, NATO paid Albania to destroy their stocks of SKS.

Nope, Kar98K sling and sling attachments, no butt storage, no cleaning rod or provision for one. A Kar98K type cleaning kit was issued. Almost all EG SKS went to Croatia for the second phase of the war in FYR. They ended up in the hands of militia men for village self defence so they are likely all well hided under floors, etc for the next war.

there are Albanian sks here but not plentiful .

I like the Albanian sks the most for its uniqueness , it has extra long HG and a square mag design . its still affordable but I heard the quality isn't the best.

another unique design is the Yugo M59/66 , it was once plentiful but now its seems pretty rare. it has a GL so the front sight is move back to the gas block , it also has a lever that turn off the cycling . quality is very good .

Not all Albanian SKS were destroyed though. Several made it to the US, and I'm sure some found their way here before FRT files existed. Just no FRT for them though so no recent imports to canada. All one offs in collections if many at all.

Does this mean that no Albanian SKS's have been imported in to Canada since at least the early 90's?
 
I knew a fellow in Regina who had an East German SKS back in the 90's. He showed it to a fellow who had emigrated from the old country. The man's training kicked in, "Karbiner!" he said and proceeded to do all the drills he was taught years before. If the East German SKS rifles are anything like their AKs, they are a beauty to behold. Deep bluing, close tolerances, funky knobby plastic furniture, and smooth surface machining.
