EASTERN REGIONALS……HOTTAWA it was.

Was another great experience ,challenging, exhausting and might I add …somewhat warm.
Arrived home today (need to sleep) and am hoping those that had cameras and took pics would be able to share either on here, the Eastern's website or please send them to my email (if they are non flattering or embarrassing)

Would like to again Thank The NCRRA,Connaught Range Command, Barry,Scott,Kathy,Butch BobbyRae and target crew and ALL who worked to make this happen.
It was great to see the regular faces as well as meeting all the new attendees.Hope to see you all again at the Nats.
Also a special thanks to ALL of the match sponsors (hope someone can add on and list them all)

Split seemed about 50/50 FO/FTR with random squadding occurring day 1.Matches were shot 3 to a target at 7 & 800 meter and 2 at 900.Weather was fairly quiet and sunny with very lite breezes for the mornings 700 and 800 meter matches. The heavier flags and larger flagpoles took a bit to see subtle changes. If I recall, some pretty nice scores were posted.

After burgers at the club kitchen for those who took advantage, the afternoon winds started to live up to Connaught reputation.Volume and degree changing fast enough to warrant some wtf's. If you were lucky you experienced the brief moments when almost half the flags were going the SAME directions.Finished soaking wet and headed off to hotel hell for an evening of entertainment.
Sunday proved even a greater challenge as heat, humidity and mirage increased and wind snakes ran rampant .The most definitive comment I could make about the Connaught Range is that EVERY time you get to shoot on it,you will surely "experience" something NEW and generally humbling.Teams had been assembled and the first team match was shot at days end.Had some fun shooting with 2 new friends and an old one.
Watch for this Jr (new Canadian) to be VERY WELL KNOWN in the next couple years.
Sunday evening BBQ of ribs n chicken was a perfect end to a long day.Would have been great to hit the hotel for sleep but a FWIW …not to book into a hotel filled with jr hockey and soccer teams and partying parents on a long weekend.
Monday morning came too fast however the weather promised to hold off the predicted storms. The second Team Match was held with still"new" abuses by wind and mirage.
After the finals seeding was done,we all paired up and in 100 plus F and what felt like 100% humidity,we all struggled to get the last 15 on score.
Although a great time,I was glad to pack it in and head for something cold at the club.
While Kathy and all were compiling finals, everyone got a chance to swap horror stories and refresh on something cold sitting on the club veranda.

Before winding up this rambling summary,I wanted to share with you, just how incredible it was to have the family of our good friend Don McGinnis there to present The Don McGinnis Memorial Trophy.
It really is a MUST SEE and will reside in perpetuity at the NCRRA facility adding 2 new names each and every year to come.My thanks to the Family and to those that made it happen.

Meds kickin in and time to sleep.Hope some pics get added to this post as it's useless without some….
Thanks
Gord O
