Eatonia trigger question

Hello gentlemen,

I just recently picked up an old single shot Eatonia 22 rifle. I'm not really sure if it is a junior model but the length of it is approximately 36.5" long (barrel 24.5", stock 25.5'). Anyway the issue I have is with the trigger. When it is uncocked, it sits fine in the middle of the trigger guard. But once I pull the bolt back, the trigger moves forward towards the front of the trigger guard. Regardless if I pull back the action to "take it off safety" it stays in the forward position. Once I unchamber the round then it will go back to the normal position in the middle of the trigger guard as it is suppose to. Any ideas? I've attached a few photos. Thanks in advance.

Take it out of the stock and post the same picture of it on it's side.

Just added a second link, thanks. Now that I'm looking at a bunch of other Eatonia's on the internet, I see that it could be my trigger guard that might be the issue. I see some trigger guards that are shaped more of a longer protruding oval front.

I noticed my first link only showed one photo. This is the link that should have been on there.

Is it possible that that's a replacement stock, not original to that rifle?
I'm questioning if the sear spring is beefier than the factory one as well.

That is a good point. I don't know the history of this particular firearm. That thought also did cross my mind that a full size stock was added to a junior model as I believe some of the Eatonia's are "youth" model. Hmm, I will have to check the other Cooey models to see how the springs look. Thanks very much.

Here's a few pics to compare.

Show a picture of your stock, maybe different stock? Drill new holes, move the trigger guard ahead, or make a stop in the stock so the trigger does not go a head so much, but will #### properly. Is there just the 2 original holes on the stock?
The stock don't look original to the gun.

It would be the same as a Cooey Ace 2.. Which pictures show the trigger forward, when un cocked.

Probably not the correct stock. I would just re drill and relocate the trigger guard.

Here are some additional photos. The first photo is when the firearm is cocked. At this point, regardless if the safety was pull back in a ready fire position the trigger will stay forward. The second photo is after the trigger is fired so it is at the normal position. Looking at the marking where trigger guard is, it appears that this trigger has been on this stock for years. I'm thinking it possibly can be an added stock to the Eatonia. I guess one way to rectify this would be to get another trigger guard that is more of a Cooey 75 type which frontal guard balloons out further away from the trigger.

That trigger channel in the stock, looks like someone opened it up with a rasp.

Personally I would just move the trigger guard forward.

Actually, that would work. There is enough clearance in the front and it clears the rear. Just a couple of drill holes that shows up but I can just cover it up with wood putty or something. I know the rifle won't win any beauty contest.
By the way, thanks HuskyDude for the photo of the center to center point drill hole. 2.9 is definitely further apart than mine.

Drill the holes out, and glue in some wooden dowels. I had to do that for the forearm on my Cooey 75..

My Cooey 75 is a hacksmith.. A dovetail mount was milled for the top of the receiver. I cut the barrel down to 18", filed the bolt to pull back more, so I don't hook my thumb on the extractor. Mounted a 45$ 3-12x40AO scope that super light.

Excellent tips. Thank you. My dove tail rear sight is home made from a piece of scrap metal I think lol

Okay not sure that's a Eatonia stock you have there...more like a Mod 39.
Here's a Mod 39. Notice the flat bottom pistol grip and the proper trigger guard.

On all my junior Cooeys Ace, Eatonia, Rabbit and Ranger all have a rounded pistol grip.

Edit
Like to see a pic of the Eatonia emblem on the barrel please.

Re-read you first post. You're right it's not a junior Cooey.

Junior has a 20.5" barrel, 21.25" stock.

Just measured my Mod 39 - 25.5" barrel, 25.25" stock
Hiawatha (Mod 30) -25.5" barrel, 26'5" stock.

Old man Eaton contracted two Eatonia's way back in 1924 with Cooey.
Eatonia .22 long Rifle (Mod 39) and the Eatonia .22 (Mod Ace, Ranger, Rabbit)
