Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone here has some knowledge regarding EAW scope mounts and if they can be adjusted with a forward angle. Their catologue/website is somewhat confusing...

Following a thread I started a while ago, I've begun building my setup and have already bought an S&B PMII 4-16x50 scope. I remembered often reading "get the best scope you can buy, then get the rifle" on this forum, so I figured that's one piece of advice I shouldn't second guess.

The scope is factory preset to highest point of its elevation range. According to the manual, the base/mount should therefore be slanted forward by half the full elevation range (by about 20 MOA in my case, the range is 130cm at 100m) to make full use of available adjustment. The point they're making is to have the full elevation range usable in one direction at distances beyond 100m. I hope this makes sense in the way I explained it

Anyway, before I consider the usual suspects (Near, Warne, Badger, etc.), I was wondering if I could make an "all Euro" setup, since the rifle will be a TRG-22. So I came across EAW and wanted to know if they have a setup that can provide a 20 MOA forward angle for a 34 mm main tube. Anyone here know?

Thanks in advance :)

The company is EGW and they make a variety of canted (MOA) scope bases. I am using a 25MOA base on my Stevens 223 and it works well.

Compared to the Farrell, they sit lower but are a bit less beefy (not that really matters). Bolts are allen key not torx if you care about that.

A pic rail with lots of slots but the slots are big so you have to make sure that you set your Burris rings properly. A square cross pin ring set would be a simple install.

The finish is not as durable as the Farrel but it does cost quite a bit less.

I have only used it for a few months but see nothing I would change.

SORRY ... I DIDN'T READ YOUR QUESTION CAREFULLY. DON'T bother to read the following...
THE ANSWER IS NO....although you may wish to read last line only...good luck.

Redman ... are they "pivot mounts" or one of the other types...I have some EAW rings and bases and may be able to provide some insight if you can point me to the EAW type of ring/base combo you have... I am betting pivot cause I don't believe there is a rail version of that S&B scope and I don't think EAW makes 34mm rings for their "roll-off" bases...

Assuming they are pivot:
Most of the forward "rings" on these mounts have the ability to be adjusted (eg to cant the ring up or down) this is accomplished by loosening a screw that runs through the "leg" of the front ring that holds the "Redfield" type dovetail foot.

Rather than designed to allow for greater scope elevation ...this is really intended (at least on all the EAW pivot bases I have examined) to accommodate for "slight" differences in height between the front and rear bases so that the rear base (when the scope is swung into position) engages it's locking recess without interference from the base and the scope is held stress free.

I presume that the rear base could be slightly elevated and the front foot adjusted accordingly ... BUT the rear base would have to be canted to ensure it was on the same plane as the front ring ... or you would risk stressing/marring the scope .. or even preclude the rear foot from engaging it's recess.

I don't think EAW really intended a quick detachable ring base combo to be used much beyond 600m at which distance adjustments for range would probably be nicely handled with the S&B internal elevation
