I am thinking of purchasing some used reloading equipment from the states / ebay. a press , a bullet mold / press parts / shell holder

I was wondering about customs etc will they allow it to cross the border

what is the duty etc

what problems have people had ??

thanks:cool:

No probs...as long as the seller has no issues w/ sending up here. Just watch what you pay for S&H...it could be cheaper to get up here!
Ask if they will ship USPS NOT UPS!!
Good Luck

Shipping should aleays be post office. Watch what you pay for the stuff. I bought most of my mods off of ebay. If you watch you can get some pretty good deals.

Take Care

I've bought lots of molds and other reloading stuff off of GreedBay. Most Americans are happy to ship to Canada if you ask them. BUT BEWARE OF SHIPPING COSTS. That damn online calculator ALWAYS guesses high. Expect to pay around $20.00 postage for a small package. If the actual postage is less most sellers pocket the difference.

Watch the prices of molds on there, the folks on the cast bullet forums laugh at what some pay for molds, as you can sometimes buy them cheaper brand new.

I bought the whole shebang from the U.S. on eBay and had no problems. I think how they word the description on the customs forms can contribute to an easy or hard journey across the border. Mine came with "Hobbyist tools" and another came described as "sporting tools equipment" or some such thing. (can't remember exactly). I didn't even pay duty at the post office. I just went and picked them up and that was that. The prices were great and shipping was about 35 dollars for both parcels. I will be shopping some more.

I have to agree with everyone here. I bought several thing off "evilbay", it usually start out being a pretty good deal. If the shipping don't ruin the deal Canada customs will.

no problem best to ask seller/message them on what is postage charge to canada.
then ask for 1st class shipping wich is less expensive than the ebay calculator most times.
no problems but ster away from fed ex or ups they charge WAY to much in fees .

When shipping to Canada USPS also has flat rate boxes with a weight limit of 24lbs (I think). If you are shipping a lot of stuff, reasonably sized box, 9x12x6" high is $24. They also have smaller boxes that are cheaper.

It depends on the seller. I bought several dies sets (tools) and no problems at all thru USPS. Shipping was about $9.00. Some sellers skim you for an extra $10.00 for thier pocket.

I've bought quite a bit of reloading gear on eBay as well and not had any problems but you really have to do the math. Between shipping and exchange rates you can end up paying way more than buying new gear in Canada.

i was looking on ebay on the weekend almost bid on some stuff
