Anyone using an ebike for hunting? I seen one advertised on an outdoor show (Jim Shockey's i think) looks like it could make for a fun afternoon spent on trails and logging roads? If you do use one what make and model?

I've been thinking the same...you can buy kits to convert your regular bike into an ebike for a lot less than buying a complete unit.

given the steep slopes on the West Coast, the battery doesn't last long
on top of that the bicycle weight rating is not conducive to retrieving anything over 50lbs

The wife’s cousin has an e-bike of sorts it’s pedal assist, when you pedal it kicks in. The battery lasts long enough for him to ride from Vernon into Kelowna from what I gather, you can dial up or down the percentage you want it to help out. I took it for a ride and man it has some juice at 70% assist. If the battery dies on you it’s just a reg mountain bike, has full suspension etc etc. It would be great for hunting small game or exploring new areas once you park the truck, if you had a decent pack and saddle bake set up I bet you could pack a quartered deer out no problem.

My shooter buddy just bought a 3 wheeler e-bike. It will do up to 27 kph. It seems like a neat rig. He has a smaller toy hauler and can load it up. He took it to Alaska.

Years ago (when the Prius first came out) I sent emails to Yamaha, Polaris and Honda asking them to build a hybrid hunting quad. Something with a small but capable gas engine for logging roads and hauling, but the ability to switch to a silent electric motor for creeping in that last mile.

I don’t want it for me mind you, I love sneaking in on foot before the sun comes up. But for everyone else lol. Nothing like quietly sneaking in for 2 hours before dawn and getting all set up, then as the sun peeks up, all the four-wheeler Freds come thundering into the bush like a herd of rhinos. I’ve got no problem with guys using quads, but I wish they could do it without sterilizing the woods of critters.

There’s a gang up where we moose hunt that has one of those 6 seat electric golf carts. It’s not real capable in the rough stuff, but it holds more guys than a pickup, and it’s quiet as a mouse.
