Have an old British double. It had a small ebony tip on the splinter forend( I'm guessing here). It is long gone and I would like to find a small piece of ebony, epoxy it in then file and sand it to profile of forend. Anyone have any or know where it can be purchased?

You have to define small piece. Amazon.ca has some list approximately 4x1.5x15/16. Google is your friend. Google ebony wood for sale canada

Exotic woods in Burlington ON will have what you need. Been buying small blocks and slabs there for knife making for years. Give them a call and I’d bet they can sort you out.

What dimensions you need?

Ebony is around $225/bf last I checked. Endangered and on the CITIES list (you can't export it without a certificate) Anything you find in a specialty shop these days will probably be Macassar, Gaboon or "Queen's" ebony - you want African or Indian.

Anyway - I have a ton of it - depending on your size I may even have a scrap to fit. no certificates though.

Post a pic and dimensions.

The piece required is around 1 1/4 inches long by 3/4 inch wide, thickness is perhaps 1/4 to 3/8 inch leaving lots to cut down to original contour. May have been horn originally but no horn anywhere else on the gun. Proof marks show BP 1887 to 1896. Not a best grade gun by any means but Birmingham built and good quality, back action locks, rebounding hammers, damascus barrels, excellent bores and 2 3/4 inch chambers surprisingly. It will take low brass loads no problem, all kinds of damascus barrels of good manufacture with nitro proofs. You can't go by a lot of the BS you read online regarding damascus barrels. Still proofing them today in the UK.

Yea - looks like it was a little longer than you have there - probably came to a bit more of a point. also, the edges are rounded over, you are gonna want to cut that slightly deeper.
Looks like I gave away all my bigger scraps - but there are a bunch left that will fit, you'll just have to cut around some epoxy and peg holes. I also have a chunk of buffalo horn, and some moose antler that would fit as well.

New Brunswick? PM me with your address, send me $20 for shipping & I will box up what I have - you can sort through and re-gift whatever you don't use.
