Econo rifles

myself if I was in your shoes I'd buy a Stevens 200 and mount a Bushnell Elite 3200 scope on it or a fixed power Weaver.

have 2 of them set up that way. 1 in 30-06 and the other in 7mm rem mag. both sporting a bushnell 3200. So far no complaints, they're good shooters outta the box for the money. don't hesitate and just go out and buy one, you won't regret it!!!

Savage, they are accurate, have good adjustable triggers, easily rebarrelled....and would be my pick.
Mossbergs have always seemed to have gritty actions.
Remington 710's have plastic/polymer, I saw a brand new one at the range after 2 rounds the bolt shroud broke rendering it useless, hopefully just a random flaw in manufacturing.

I have a friend here who ended up with a brand new 710 from Canadian Tire. Long story...............anyway, first box of ammo, before he had the thing sighted in, the plastic bolt shroud had a huge piece broken off.

He brought it to show me, and then to CT. They told him that he had to send it back to Remington for repair, that they had no warranty responsibility in the matter.

Savage/Stevens whichever package suits your needs better. I've got a Stevens I'm very happy with, but if I could change one thing about it I'd have a removable mag for faster loading. With the Savage package you are stuck with their choice of scope, so either one has pros and cons. One pro they share is they shoot. 8)
