I've edited this post to get right to the point, could anyone tell me how to determine the chokes on this gun? I've tried google but can't find out anything, also what do the 4 interlocking olympic type rings indicate? Thanks in Advance for any help.

If there are no markings to indicate chokes..just measure with dial vernier....or even use the old dime trick!!

Buy a choke guage, about £5 here, pm me and I'll send you one. It wont tell you the degree in the forcing cone but it will sort out the muzzle! I cant see the rings you are on about?
true cylinder on a 12 should be .729 of an inch or 18.5mm for those poor souls forced to be french!

Whats the dime trick? I did notice my finger goes further into the right barrel, left one feels tighter.

I was told the tighter choked one was for a follow up shot at a missed or second bird at an obviously farther distance then the first shot taken.

And a dime is full choke.

Sorry that's about all I know, about these. :(

That's a nice lookin' field gun.

Look on the barrels for either numbers which are close but different between the two (around 18.5 or so), or maybe **** and ***, anything like that.

The 'interlocking olympic rings' are those the screwheads and their lockscrews on the sides of the frame?

The old dime trick for 12 ga......a dime will only go 1/3 the way in on a tight(full) choke....1/2 way in on a modified....and completely enter a Imp. Cyl.choke....these are approx. only and should not be considered Gospel.

I tried the dime trick, it went to about an inch from the end in the right barrel, inch and a half from the end in the left, I'll probably take it in to a smith to get it measured. Here is a picture of the rings on the barrel, on one side of the barrel it says J.P. Sauer and Sohn Suhl. On the other side it says Special-Gewehr Lauf-Stahl S.G.-1 and those rings I mentioned.
