**EDITED** the xcr shows promise

I like accuracy and if I could get .5MOA with a non restricted .223 semi auto black rifle that takes 10 round mags, gopher city here I come. I'll bring my Cooper 17FB for the lulls when the barrel is cooling.

The point being he spent all that money and is experiencing results that can be achieved with a stock XCR. His range report is nothing special...

Correct, but if this is the beginning of an ongoing experiment...more power to him I say.

i think my posting this thread was premature but this gun before the new barrel was a 3-4 moa rifle with the same ammo used in the posted group so you can see it does show promise which i noted in my first post and yes i do realize its still nothing to shout from the rooftops yet but thought that you guys might be interested to see its progrees so far.
as for the poster referring to 1/4moa groups i would love to look at your xcr 1/4moa groups and maybe you can teach me something im doing wrong.

.25 MOA XCR is BS unless maybe it is based on the Remington XCR.

At a very minimum here bluestratus, you should solve the riddle of how much of the XCR accuracy problems are attributed to the barrel/gasblock. Go for it.

Did you change anything in how the barrel is mated to the receiver BTW?

I dont know much about XCR in stock configuration , Only fired a mag once with a red dot but the Owner was telling me he could get 1 moa with a scope out of it.
If your actual setup can get accuracy similar to what my less then 2K SPR AR can do
I say It's money well invest in a non restricted lazer.

This is what I am capable to juice out of my AR and I am pretty sure It's more accurate then I can Shoot.
reloads if the key

Oh yeah these are at 200M with a sand bags. I don't shoot at 100M

I'd be happy with that with a bolt gun @200. Good shooting.;)

Just some thoughts on what was done to the rifle.
Given that the barrel is only attached to the action with a set screw that puts pressure on the barrel extension, how is a monster heavy barrel going to improve anything? The big gas block is lovely but does that not then complicate the harmonics being sent along the barrel thereby possibly loosening or wearing the set screw that holds the barrel on?

I am ALL about trying to improve the accuracy of a rifle, but given the design of the XCR am thinking that a monster barrel is not necessarily the way to go. Long and heavy barrels are great IF they have the support at the action to maintain repeatable attachment as in a bolt rifle. I am thiunking that fairly heavy up to the gas block, then keeping the factory gas block and barrel diameter for a few inches beyond may be a better solution.

I guess we will see once we get some of our XCR barrels to the range and test them for accuracy.

Stratus Keep us posted as to how your experiment works out. It is always fun to see which theory does in fact work. The only way we learn is to try different approaches to the same issue.

under .500 for the first three then i dont know what happened to the other two.

Three shot groups don't count. Five minimum. The "other two" should be included in your group and therefore your .500 can't possibly count.
