(edited title) Museum's inventory: Bren Mk I, Mk II and Mk IIM.

I'm completely lost. ;-)

Glad if you like it though...

Martin

If I recall correctly, Inglis Bren serial numbers started with M.1 , so that is the 279th production (not including tool room and pre-production guns) Bren manufactured at Inglis.

DD is Double Dovetail, the front dovetail on the left side of the receiver for the indirect fire optical sight (the same type as the one used on the Vickers MG), or also (though it was never fitted and only 1 prototype mount was manufactured) the direct fire scope which became the No32 Enfield sniping scope.

The rear dovetail is the holder for the rear sight assembly.

Holy drool cup Batman! I don't know if I can handle anymore of these awesome pics. I want one to go plinking on the range now!

Here are more pictures about the mag lock, the mag well and the mag itself that's fit with the Bren MkIIM. In fact, it seems to be the exact same thing than the Bren 7.92 mm.

So, I hope the pictures are better than the first ones. I do realized that I never pushed the mag well lid as far as it was possible.

On the pictures, you will se the MkII, the MkIIM and the 7.92.

MkII front locking lug.

MkIIM front locking lug.

7.92 front locking lug. (A bit blury... sorry for that!)

Comparison between MkII and MkIIM.

Comparison between MkIIM and 7.92.

MkII and MkIIM with mags.

MkII mag lock.

MkIIM mag lock.

7.92 mag lock.

Difference between mags. The curvy one is the standard Bren magazine and the straight one is made for 7.92 mm ammunition.

These pictures are just because I love it! I really like this machine gun and sadly, it seems I will never own one with the nice laws and regulations in our country.

If the pictures are not what was expected, feel free to let me know. I still have 3 weeks to play with the machine guns before passing to something else.
