EDMONTON, AB M14 Clinic, Sat 08 Nov- Register here!

In prep for the Nov SG clinic, I removed the barrel set screw on my M305. The head of the set screw was damaged in the process. Can I fire the rifle without the set screw installed or do I need to install a replacement?

gnmontey:

Yeah, you can fire it without the head of the set screw. That kommunist xhinese set screw is a redundant POS safety that is totally useless. I just drill them out, about half the depth, that eases the bearing stress or pressure exerted on the barrel threads so that removing the barrel from the receiver is a piece of cake. :D

Cheers,
Barney

I`ll be working on a Clinic for Calgary around April.... ;) Stay tuned. I`ve got a little more time this coming winter and spring to run more M14 clinics!

What about Hongcouver? :)

Hungry here: You Hongcouver fellas are super lucky to have 45ACPKING and Lazarus2008 out there on a monthly basis, so I don't feel so bad. All of you have these 2 super resourceful people there and I feel that they alone can help fuel your M14 addiction. .... Hey, I could try for Oct or Sep of next fall....

Less then a month too go.Any one have a master list of who's bringing what or is it still too early.Food ,tools, etc.Hey 45 ACP King can you bring more of your great burgers? Man they were good.

Pardon the question, who's teaching this clinic? What certifications/quailifications does he have?

Hungry here: I'm not a gunsmith, but I teach the gunsmiths. I'm not a sniper, but I've won a bunch of gold medals at the National Sniper Matches, I'm not an armorer, but I've built many AR's and M1A's that have podiumed several times. I'm a mere lowly rifleman and ex-track driver. I have made every know mistake while working on hundreds of (real USGI) M14's and M1A's. And finally, I won't disclose your identity after I've done the warranty part (repair) on your Sproingfield Armory M1A's so called "Lifetime Warranty" which is NFG (no good) on this side of the border. Guess you have not downloaded my hosted videos yet?

Hungry and m14's are like peanut butter and jelly. They just go together! Anyone thinking about a M14 should attend this incredibly informative clinic. He may not be a gunsmith or hold cerificates for gunsmithing, but his knowledge of this particular rifle is 2nd to none! Oh and don't buy one, buy 2 or your #### will fall off!!!!!

After lunch, we start the customizing or tweaking. People work on their M14's with me walking around pointing with the "finger of authority". I make all my tools available. In the past at the Barrie, Ont clinic, CGNutter Ishootguns brought up a trailer and his entire welding rig. He was kind enough to weld up 12 Norinco gas cylinder assemblies. Major great Karma booster!! Life is good.

Then we do some re-barreling , some glass bedding, all depends on the local physical resources and location.

Peace out.

Barney

Good day... I was wondering if this will be held indoors or out. I do not know what is available at the range. Are we able to put a couple of rounds down the range we bringing a bagged lunch? Does anyone have a spare screw for the rear butt plate that I can purchase from, and finally new items that anyone can think of that I should bring besides the list at the begining of the post? Remmber I am a rookie at this stuff. Thanks
