educate me on Sako rifles

My dad has been wanting one for ages. I was thinking of surprising him with one. Probably a cheapo version or used one in 270 or preferably in .308

Anything to watch out for? So many models I don't know how even to start looking for one. Other than must be right handed and box mag, he has thick fingers that makes reloading small caliber non removable magazines a chore.

A7's have a box mag and comes in a 308. I believe a Sako 75 has a version that has a box mag.

You can get a conversion kit for an L579 or an AII, but they're hard to find and quite expensive.

Non removable mags can be loaded from bottom, just saying.. drop the floor plate, turn rifle upside down, slip in three rounds and slap the floor plate on again...

The cheapo new ones are the Sako A7 and will run you about 1300 new. Used Sakos pop up in EE every now and again.

Look for a used 75 series. Expect to pay 12-1500 depending on finish, chambering, and condition. Also try to find one without the ugly bolt lock, for aesthetic reasons.
