Educate me on VZ58 ambi mag release and tactical bolt release brands

I am looking to add an ambi mag release and tactical bolt release to my VZ58 build. There are several brands but what one should I choose?

NEA I really like but parts are either no longer made or sold out, very limited runs, hard to find

BC Tactical, isn't an option since it's not an ambi mag release

Corwin Arms, great prices, but haven't read much about the parts they're offering

Zahal, decent prices, Zahal is well known

Gunexpert, most expensive I think.

So Corwin, Zahal, and Gunexpert all look basically the same, can you guys shed some light on build quality, issues, etc per brand?

I was leaning pretty heavy towards Corwin, I'm VERY pleased with the brakes I got.

I'm sure there aren't many shops in the Czech Republic making the parts. Might be the same parts sold at multiple sources.
 
I'm really happy with the bolt release I got from Corwin. I'm even happier with the Dlask mag release I have. Check it out, it's quite different from the others available.

Negative. That was my one concern when I first got it, but I figured I could just cut it down if that turned out to be an issue. But it hasn't accidentally released over a season of training and 3-gun use (~3000rds). I might still trim it since it's longer than it needs to be.

I like that it is "in-line" with the contour of the rifle: It doesn't make the receiver any wider, and it's right in line with the pistol grip and the magazine, so I think it's less likely to get hung up on anything. It also makes AK-style mag changes pretty speedy.
 
The ambi mag release Corwin sells is excellent.
Works great with either the right index finger (right handed shooter) or left hand during reloads.
Still debating on the bolt release but if I do get one..it will also be from Corwin.
 
Yeah I really liked the NEA ambi mag release and bolt release always nice to support Canadian made too.

I like the Dlask, just wonder how it would feel running one. Is it now more of a centerline only release? Is it extended out the sides even as much as the stock CSA? Right now I use my left thumb, instead of reaching up to release I'd reach in to release basically?

Corwin is a fantastic seller so I'm happy giving him my money instead. :)

Really though, it comes down to what you like!

The Dlask setups are much close to an AK release, with very long levers on them.

The NEA ones (if you can still find them) were popular for quite some time as a simple paddle setup.

We like the grooved units from Czech republic, but that's also because we sell them!

Thanks Zahal, it seems to me that the setup you showed would be extremely effective for sure.

I have read about the mag release not working with the bolt release so yeah I would need to be sure on that.

Any issues with the bolt release not fully seating a round from the mag? Is it as powerful as pulling the charging handle fully back? The VZ can be a bugger at times if the bolt doesn't fly forward under full power.

Yep, centerline only. Well, it's about 1/8" proud on the left side of my CZ858 trigger guard. Left side of the mag release is plumb to the left side of the receiver, if that makes sense. With a beercan grip on your mag, you can use your thumb no problem. I find it faster to activate the lever using the top of the new mag, while also pushing the old mag out.

Negative on problems of this type using the Zahal / Corwin arms bolt release with my CZ858. A mechanical bolt release is always going to have a more crisp release, and thus leaving the bolt with more energy for its travel into battery. Unless something is out of spec, which I've not heard of for this application.
 
All of them are knock offs of Jeff's (NEA) ambi-release. I say in a hands down by far the best is Dlask's AK style mag release. This and a good bolt release really puts this rifle in another league of it's own.
