A big murder of Ravens terrorize the fowl. Ducks and geese, lost one duck, and previously about a dozen chickens.

So, 40 years since I've shot a airgun. Know next to nothing about them, not even enough to ask good questions. Really haven't seen .22 cal pellets around, so .177. Little village with no shooting and lefties. Budget of say $300.

Something like a Crosman Nitro Phantom in ,22 would be simple and effective keeping the yard clean. Not too expensive, enough power, not too hard to find.

There is some amazing airguns out there but the cost to get setup is pretty high if you look into PCP (pre charged Pneumatic)

Sounds like you need a slingshot or crossbow or something : )

In case you are allowed to discharge a firearm (yes, under stupid canadian laws a pelletgun is considered a firearm) in your village then don't have your lefty neighours see you to avoid a swatting call.

Whatever you buy make sure you practice and learn the trajectory of the pellets you are using. Pellet guns are not shooting like laser beams, especially not if you stay under 500fps.

Well you should remember those crack barrels with the wood stock?

It’s been awhile, but I remember you could take the spring out and drop in a bunch of nickels , to give it more power.
It packed quite the wallop.

Power is one thing, accuracy is more important imo.
All the power/energy in the pellet is wasted if you don't hit what you are aiming for.

Maybe check out airgunforum.ca and see what Field Target shooters in the hunter category use.

These old break barrels were accurate .

Nothing wrong with a good break barrel pellet gun, I have a few myself that would be suitable (Diana 34 for instance) but they already have enough fps and don't need a bunch of nickels put in : )

There are a lot of poor quality air rifles out there though...

Little village with no shooting and lefties... Legally that pretty much rules out an air rifle regardless of velocity... it sounds weird but in BC it doesn't have to be a firearm to be a firearm.

Accurate compared to what ?
Don't get me wrong, BrkBl's are okay, love mine .22, certainly convenient.
But by no way will group as well as my PCP. Period.

No sure I'd be shooting Raven with a .177.
.22 or .25 would be better.

My last break barrel wouldnt group any more than 1.5" grabbed my 953 and it was under 1/2". Break barrels are wild horses. Require you to shoot differently than most other rifles.

Personally I would get a Cooey and run like CCI Quiets, or those Koribli or whatever they are called.

I can not help about air rifles - do not have any - but tried out those CCI Quiet Long Rifle for first time, ever, earlier this year - I found them to be UNBELIEVEABLE - first shot was with pick-up engine running and I had to open the rifle to see the fired cartridge to be sure it had "gone off" - was just shooting into a snow bank ditch, so was not really aiming at anything - so no judgement about accuracy - but I was impressed how "quiet" they really were - no "crack" at all like from the "normal" 22 shells. It would surprise me if someone could hear it from 50 yards away.

Gun tech had a good point about actual law compared to reality in BC. I'm thinking the 1000ft Blackhawk. 177. If im going to get jacked up by the tyrants, might just as well ethically eliminate the ravens. They're a enormous pest, blatant, in your face....one step from opening the door and taking bacon from the pan. I expect, one ...maybe two at less than 20yds to take a nap, if the rest learn and leave then I'm done.

Every store I go into in BC, that sells outdoors/firearms/ammo, I check out. Can't ever remember seeing anything but .177 and BB....ever, in decades. First and foremost I need to have the ability to shoot it, so it's. 177. Cheap, rather quiet way to solve a problem doesn't include a minimum $22 shipping fee for pellets from a big city specialty store.

I've actually never shot a Raven, it's limited to private land here, not crown. They serve a needed purpose in the bush. Here also served by eagles and vultures. However, here, on this property they destroy anything potentially food, making a horrible mess. As stated, they've killed livestock, attack dogs and cats, and even dive bomb people. Last week it seems one was struck by a car, so the whole north island murder was here. Their buddy is probably dead, but their here again in a huge way.

I have four 22 rimfires, but there's one next door neighbour that's a AH, and one down a bit across the road. Quiet, minimum, pest control. Even 22cb is too noisy. Don't need the hassle. Locally the only source is a Can tire one ferry away. If not the ruger, what other airgun. Understand, I'm not going to compete or ever collect....I hope.
