I've been out of the hobby for awhile, and now find myself interested again, with some surplus equipment to sell. How do I determine a value for my stuff, without pissing all you nutters off with useless threads? There is no price list to consult, nor ebay to search for previous transactions.

For example AR-15 5/40 rounders were always somewhat scarce. So what are they worth now? Further, I have three different brands in this pic, a Sterling, a Colt and no name, if the baseplate is to be believed.

So what is the protocol for determining a value for something? I did search (briefly) thru the EE FAQ......

General EE strategy is to find price of new comparable, and start with 10% above that. Then work your way down by 2% per month until someone buys.

This is correct, for example a brand new T97 rifle will cost you about $759 but on the EE they are from $850 to $1000 for a used one.

you guys forgot to mention to modify the gun first. That way regardless of what you did to it more valuable

Also throw a 100 scope on it and ask 250 more because its already on the gun

this is the ee pricing at its best. Buy a pos for $759. Shoot 200 Rds then try to sell it 10% above retail.

going rate for new US GI metal mags are about $22 to $25 a pop, used ones a roughly $15 to $19. yours being 40 rounders really doesn't add much to the value to anyone since they are pinned to 5 anyways.

Disagree. I have two Sterling 5/40 and they are definitely worth more to collectors who appreciate them for what they are.

5/20 rd Colt mags used to fetch some pretty good coin jut because they're a lot more scarce. It doesn't matter that they only hold 5.

Well someone has to pay for the test ammo.
You can't expect to have the first owner to eat the cost of testing...

EE experiential rules.
(1) People who browse see gouging and post about it.
(2) People who post experience low balling and ignore them.
(3) At the same time many mutually agreeable transactions occur.

Price it for what ever you want to get out of them, and them drop the price if it does not sell, until some one buys
