We are hosting another Black Badge at EESA

April 18,19,20

Our very own Tritium is teaching it............

If you are interested contact me or Trit as well as registering at IPSC ontario.

There are some courses happening soon in the GTA area, in the interest of saving some gas, which means more money for ammo.:)
Blackthorne, PM sent to that effect.

Do I need to do anything else for this BB Course Re: Registration?

Do you guys have a one stop shopping place for all things IPSC for your gear?

I should of listened. All you other newbie's out there take note, when these guys suggest a firearm for IPSC, go with it. It's F'N hard to find non-duty gear for a Sig!!! let along someone in Canada who sells it or someone who's international and actually allowed to sell it to you.

The dealers at the top of the page can hook you up with everything you need.

Cheers

Epps is a good choice for gear...so is the IPSC Store which is in Barrie... the guy you want for belts is Shooters Gear in Innisville just south of Barrie go to www.shootersgear.com for his website

Thread hijack !!!!

EPPS has a pretty good selection of Forbus holsters and mag pouches, try giving them a shout. There is a guy in Barrie that does belts as well, I will see if I can find his name.

Was in Epps this afternoon. Mike was pretty stellar, couldn't really find what I was looking for as they lacked stiff 1.5" belts and lacked equipment for a 2.25" belt.

He was more then willing to order the equipment for me, but couldn't guarantee an April 15th delivery date. So I picked up some Safariland gear for a 1.5" belt now to find a 1.5" belt for my portly frame and a way to shim a 2.25" holster. (figure a couple small bolts and a lock washer)

The joys of leaving things until the last minute (should read as being perpetually broke).

It's kinda funny when you start trying to order stuff and the only suppliers are in the States and can't/won't ship to Canada.

Now to call Marstar on Monday to see if the got my Email order for 6 mags.

Too any other Newbie's reading this: "Get your gear well before your BB Course date. Other wise you will end up wondering where the heck you will get all your kit from."

Might not even be a bad idea to have the time to practice and familiarize yourself with it a few times. (I've got no idea how to draw a mag from these pouches ... at least not comfortably.)

To be safe, I would bring 500 to 600 rounds to the course. Usually the students will shoot about 400 or so but if there are shooters who need to reshoot certain stages, ALL of the shooters will reshoot. It's good practise, gives you the most bang for your buck and you don't stand around bored.

My advice prior to the course is to dry fire practice your draw, sight pciture, trigger press and mag changes. It will make your life easier and Storm and I won't have as much to fix if you are doing them right.

That being said, I run the course as "crawl, walk and more walk, then maybe some run" if the shooters are up to it. The course is designed as a safety check of your skills to ensure you can perform safely but you will get some competition tips. If i can find a good competitor to teach them! ;)

Oh, bring a cleaning kit! And, make sure the gun works before you get there.

As for holsters etc...STAY AWAY FROM FOBUS! They will damage the finish on your gun! Any one of the dealers here can hook you up with good gear. My fav's are Freedom Ventures, Double Tap, CRAFM for gear, TSE, Wolverine and of course, QUESTAR for guns! Epp's have been aweosme for me too but sometimes I've had to wait, not their fault at all!.

The course is only a couple of weeks away and the other guys will rush if you tell 'em.

I have a couple of Fobus holsters and have found them to be very rough on finishes, to the point where they will scratch the gun down to the bare metal. I believe the plastic is injection molded and not kydex though. I also had one torn completely off of a belt during a handgun retention exercise but you won't be doing that in IPSC!!!:D

I have used other Kydex holsters, such as Bladetech, and I have not had any similar problems. In fact, I prefer Bladetech over my CR Speed for IPSC Prduction division with my SP01 or SIG. In Standard, I run the CR with my STI.

Fobus would be fine for the course but there is a lot of drawing and holstering so the finish will take a bit of a beating.
