To be safe, I would bring 500 to 600 rounds to the course. Usually the students will shoot about 400 or so but if there are shooters who need to reshoot certain stages, ALL of the shooters will reshoot. It's good practise, gives you the most bang for your buck and you don't stand around bored.
My advice prior to the course is to dry fire practice your draw, sight pciture, trigger press and mag changes. It will make your life easier and Storm and I won't have as much to fix if you are doing them right.
That being said, I run the course as "crawl, walk and more walk, then maybe some run" if the shooters are up to it. The course is designed as a safety check of your skills to ensure you can perform safely but you will get some competition tips. If i can find a good competitor to teach them!
Oh, bring a cleaning kit! And, make sure the gun works before you get there.
As for holsters etc...STAY AWAY FROM FOBUS! They will damage the finish on your gun! Any one of the dealers here can hook you up with good gear. My fav's are Freedom Ventures, Double Tap, CRAFM for gear, TSE, Wolverine and of course, QUESTAR for guns! Epp's have been aweosme for me too but sometimes I've had to wait, not their fault at all!.
The course is only a couple of weeks away and the other guys will rush if you tell 'em.
