The match is a qualifying match...it is run after the course for you to demonstrate that you've learned the principles and safety requirements. The match must be successfully completed for a certificate to be issued.

No experience is required, although you should be familiar with the pistol your bringing. You should have shot it prior to the course, know how to aim, clear jams, etc. This course is designed for people new to action shooting, not people new to shooting in general
 
Bump...just a reminder guys, if you're even thinking about getting into IDPA, take the course. There is 3 NSO courses this same weekend, one at Orono, one at EESA, and one at Rondeau. All available at a very reasonable cost.

After this one, I may not be holding another NSO course at EESA for a little while.

My son started IPSC by getting his Black Badge when he was 12 years old.

I would suggest that IDPA would be the same. Not for your average kid who has never shot but fine for those who have hung around with dad at the range for a few years and been active in handgun shooting.

IDPA does in fact already promote this Storm. I have a 12 year old coming to our NSO course on the 12th and I am currently working with my 8 year old son to get a very good grasp on gun handling skills so he is ready to go when I feel he can do it.
 
Although the course is setup for those with an RPAL, it is not required. The issue of direct supervision does come into play though.

Send me a PM and we can discuss. I'm not opposed to having someone under age at the course if they have adequate experience. In fact, my little brother is likely coming and he is only 17.

Lunch may or may not be available, if it is, I think a burger, pop and fries runs around $5, and its delicious.
 
I had a great time today Onagoth, thanks a lot. I was slow as hell and sure didn't shoot as accurately as I know I can, but I had a lot of fun - and you gotta start somewhere, eh? The thing I did learn is that it's a lot harder to put together a smooth course of action than it looks. Driving home I ran through the stages we fired in my mind and thought about how some of the things I did were just backward, but my foremost concern was safety, followed by everything else. I really am looking forward to shooting some actual matches. Thanks again. :cheers:

You did great today, the only thing that can fix the procedurals and FTNs is practice and shooting matches.

Stay tuned for a possible christmas match in December.
