The post on the sniper challenge out west for help and ideas has prompted me to propose and seek help for a precision shoot I'm going to propose to the EESA group. I'm a member.

I'd like to bring CQB and Service Rifle shoots to a little closer to home, where I'm sure there are others who would love to come and try the course.

So here goes looking for feedback. If the weather holds through Nov I may try one of these out.

Course #1. Semi-auto required. Bipod allowed in fire 1 and 2 only.

Fire #1: From the bench, 5 rounds at balloons set at various places at 300 yrds.
Fire #2: From the bench, 5 rounds at red balloons only, interspersed with other balloons, at 200 yrds. Minus one point for non-red balloon hits
Fire #3: 2 three round mags required. Standing only. Fire 3 in each target set at 35yds.
Fire #4: Move to designated pillar. Standing using pillar as support, 4 rounds into targets at 65yds. 4 V-bulls at deminishing sizes.
Fire #5: Move to hide in center of field, kneeling leaning over from behind hide, 5 rounds one at each filled water bottle.
Fire #6: Move to next location, prone, no bipod, 5 shots on despots. The target will have 15 faces of various despots from history. In an envelope will be the names of the 5 targets to hit.
Fire #7: Same location, next target. Pick the best 5 playing cards from 16.

Event would be timed. Score based on points per minute. Lowest score wins.

If there is interest I can post the 2nd one, which would be similar, but includes move and shoots and pistol.

Would be nice if we could set up moving targets. Any ideas how we can do that?

Sounds like a good idea!

Bring it before the membership with your proposed dates and I'm sure you won't have a problem getting range time.

BTW....using CGN as a gauge for participation isn't always meaningful. You might not get too many comments here, but I'm sure there would be club members show up

I would like to attend this event. For Fire#1 & 2, I know it says that semi-auto required but could you use a bolt gun for these 2 events?

You can try bolt action, but the semis would win hands down as it would be a timed event. Sure would be a challenge with a bolt action. So maybe a reley just for bolts?:D

The second course I have planned is almost all on the move, shoot while moving. That would be real tough bolt action.

8 mags needed!? i need more mags but sounds like fun, why semi only , a remote 4x4 with a target stand on its back .

You could try mag chargers, but loses time. Because of the ORA CQB I have 10 mags for my CZ and 10 for my M14. That way 5 can be used while loading the other 5 for the next relay.

Of course, if we can get the feds to get rid of the 5 round limit...:D

This is the second course, subject to suggestions.

Fire #1: Standing 2 mags with 3 rounds each. 2 chest one head in each of 2 targets set at 35 yards.
Fire #2: move to the left most post in the field. Five rounds moving forward into one target. Distance required, no closer than 25 yards.
Fire #3: Move to the blind, from around the side of the blind, 5 shots onto 5 filled water bottles.
Fire #4: Move to the 100 yard mound, prone, 5 rounds on 5 balloons set at various distances max to 200 yard mound (100 yard distance).
Fire #5: Move to the left of the 200 yrd mound. On the move across to the right, fire 5 rounds on the move into 5 red balloons, interspersed with other balloons.
Fire 6 and/or 7 to be determined, likely with pistol.

The skill here is shoot while moving, as well as control of firearm under stress of running from location to location.

Is there going to be different type of classes, ie Sharpshooter, Expert and Master? Or whatever way you would rate the shooter. The reason why I am asking this is because I am not setup for CQB/service rifle but I would like to get involved in different types of shooting.

We certainly can. We can just start everyone equal and see where people land, and then classify people for later matching up to give everyone the chance. Fun is the goal, bragging rights only for the winners, becoming more proficient for everyone always wins.

That's how the ORA CQB events are, everyone helps everyone else. Last shoot someone lent me their brand new CZ858 because my red-dot failed.

Depending on the weather, I'm going to try one of these in Nov, after the ORA CQB shoot on the 12th.

What is the EESA?

What's with the balloons...?
How big will the be...?
What if my balloons are smaller than the other guy...? Where do I file a protest..?!!!
Balloons aren't "precision targets"..!!!
Youz guys have that 300m range... Try clays instead... Or maybe something smaller.

'Just bustin' yer balls... :D

If the details are tweaked 'could be a great event... Eyes on it for more
