EESA spring fling?

Yuri it is on May 24/25

USP...Online signup is already going!!!

And yes you use only 1 rifle at a time. Like I said it is basically a rifle match, handgun match and shotgun match shot on the same time. I find that slings just get in the way and take them off for IPSC 3 gun matches.

I doubt we will be shooting out to 300 m. I just like to put the fear of STORM into CX4 Storm owners!! LOL!!

so which days is it the IPSC site has it for the May 26/27

Sorry for the confusion guys... I was just trying to direct people to a website that would answer a lot a the questions in the thread. I apologize if I did so in a way that sounded strange. I assumed that most people would, like me, already be familiar with IPSC handgun rules, and would therefore not need to review them before the match.

This is what I get for posting in a rush....

No confusion...just too much snow this time of year so we spend too much time on GunNuta and not enough time of the range

Besides....I don't think a bit of brushing up on tournamnet rules would hurt any of us...

Oh it is most certainly a sanctioned IPSC match........Level II as a matter of fact.

3 handgun stages (minimum)
2 Rifle stages
2 shotgun stages.

Total round count about 147 or there abouts at this point.

Do you need to be Black Badge qualified for this match? I am assuming so if it is an actuall IPSC match but not sure if it is or not.

Yes you would need a BB (but there's still plenty of time to get one)

A little birdie told me that there will be a new IPSC Club up your way soon...so the timing may be right.

If you're interested in getting certified...let me know and I'll see what's coming up.

Cheers

Yes I have heard that as well probably from the same little birdie. We are also seeing about having a BB course run up here in the near future. I had to cancel out on the last RA center one due to the army deciding I needed to go somewhere over that weekend.

On the 3 gun match? What is the start position for rifle and shotgun? Loaded? Unloaded? Mag in? Shells in? ANy idea on this one?

It will be specified during the walkthrough...

In general it is:

Gun loaded

Safety engaged (always)

Gun held either at waist height parralel to ground or butt against shoulder gun at 45 degrees towards ground.

thanks, wasnt sure the rules on this one. On shotgun stages is it ever mixed ammo stages? Like slugs and birdshot? How do they score birdshot on targets?

There will probably be mixed stages...

Paper targets are shot with slugs
Metal targets are shot with bird shot

Yes: birdshot will knock down poppers but use heavy game loads (not Win AA target)

You will also be reminded during the walkthrough that shooting a metak target with a slug will result is a DQ.

Cheers

So do people just say load slugs first? Shoot paper first and carry on against poppers with birdshot? #6 birdshot is recommended? What are the minimum and maximum shot sizes used for Poppers? Thanks. Buckshot is never allowed on poppers do to bounce back?

sooo many questions..lol. thanks for taking the time with answers. this should be a 3 gun sticky thread.

And when has EESA ever followed in general!! LOL!!

I have had starts with empty guns, loaded mags but empty chambers and fully loaded guns the whole gambit.

Buckshot on steel is very bad Ju-Ju. I once saw an R/O take two to the face off a pepper popper.....not cool.

I have never had a problem with trap loads taking down steel targets. Mind you it does require you to do your part and HIT the target.

Buckshot does not damage steel targets that are proof against .38 super so buckshot is not a problem.....

Some clubs frown on mixed ammo stages as they feel that it takes away any risk of a slug on steel. However if you set the stage right and have competitors with brains it is not much of a problem. Mind you...............hitting a paper target with birdshot sure can be embarasing.

so what are basically the shot size ranges to be in compliance? I thought some people use to use less than #4 buck? Does this not happen anymore? Birdshot only?

Also.... just out of interest if you blast a paper target with birdshot...is it a procedural?

thanks

"9.5.9 If a competitor shoots at a target with an ammunition type contrary to that specified in the written stage briefing the following will apply:

9.5.9.1 If the course of fire is restricted to a specific ammunition type, or types, for safety reasons then the competitor may be subject to a match disqualification (see Rules 10.4.10 and 10.4.11).

9.5.9.2 If a paper target is hit by an ammunition type that is contrary to that specified in the written stage briefing then such hits will not be counted for score and the target will be treated as a missed target. However, providing that there has been no safety infringement then the competitor is permitted to shoot at the target again with the correct ammunition type for score. See Rule 10.4.10.

9.5.9.3 If a metal target, including a no-shoot, is shot at and falls or overturns as a result of a competitor using a different ammunition type to that specified, and providing there is no safety infringement, then the target will be scored normally but the competitor will be subject to a procedural penalty (see Rule 10.2.12)."
