Any 3-guns this year?

Ok my esteemed leader has asked a question and I would like to answer.

However I have been somewhat non plussed with the turnout to past EESA 3 gun matches.

Last years was our best ever showing and it was still DISIMAL with a grand total of 32 shooters for the rifle and shotgun portions.

As you can imagine to put on a match with 4 handgun, 3 rifle and 3 shotgun was not an easy matter. Add to this the fact that we only used 3 of our 4 possible ranges and you can see that we could put on ONE HELL OF A MATCH if we used all the ranges.

I need some feedback.....

Do you guys WANT 3 gun matches or not!!

If not fine and I can start to organize a HUGE level II match.... and keep the 3 gun matches relatively small.

Also when would you want a 3 gun match?

In the past they have always been in October......with a Halloween Theme. Is that why people do not come? Afraid of witches and goblins?

How about September? If we avoid the QC provincials would that work better?

A 3 Gun open to non IPSC members. Could get at least 5 shooters to show up from my area.
To much $$$ to join IPSC in Canada.

If you cannot afford $60 you cannot afford the ammo for a match!!

I am concerned about people who are not BB trained due to liability.

My opinion only,

Take a look at the IPSC schedule in Canada (not just Ontario) and take a look at USPSA schedule. Then plan your match.

Us Windsor boys love your 3 gun matches... we cannot get enough of them. But we are IPSC shooters at heart and would probably not miss a major for a 3-gun.

September - October is a great time of year for three gun, as the IPSC schedule starts to wind down. You have to keep in mind the US schedule though. You would probably be surprised how many Canadians attend US matches.

Also, there are some late season Provincials (ie. New Brunswick). Don't interfere with the majors and I think you will be good to go.

East Elgin is still the hidden gem of this province... and I will support you guys in any way that I can.

Cheers,

Thanks Phil............the sin city crew have always been steadfast in their support of EESA. It is very much appreciated.

Well you know my stance on this...

I have been to IPSC matches where the club held a shotgun side match. This may be easier to support for clubs that are starting to think of "multi" gun matches. I'm still conviced that once people try a 3-gun, they'll be hooked.

If ESSA has their 3-gun again this year, you can count on a better showing from Ottawa.

Alot of people were sorry they didn't go last year after we told them about the match

Cheers

Yes Storm, you know I'm in for sure again !:D
I agree about avoiding dates with other level 3 provincial matches,
but ones that are far east or west may not be an issue, as only a few really
can make it out to those anyways.
I think in Sept. is good. I's likw to see one in early June or late May, as well, not too many level 3's at that time.
I could help with some course designs & come out on a sunday to help set up.

Well that alone about seals the deal for me................

This year I will try to keep the family emergencies this year to a minimum so we can all enjoy a BBQ and camp fire in the backyard for the Saturday night.

I have been mulling over some stage ideas of late for rifle and shotgun stages that I want to implement. Not to mention Silentrunner and I have some just FREAKY stage ideas for handgun that we need to work out.

Colt45.........we set these matches up on the Friday... However we can ALWAYS use help tearing down on the Sunday!!

Three gun for sure ..I have always enjoyed your three gun matches they are a blast but keep em around halloween as a Sept match conflicts with our Level 2 at Oxford in Sept...
