Effectiveness of Limbsaver recoil pads.

Had one on order from WS , prefit for savage/remington synthetics. Finally got a call - not in stock, doesn't show any ordered - so don't hold your breath

SIR had the same in stock, higher price but in stock and its on its way
 
Have a made to fit Limbsaver on a T3 Lite 338 ( 7.5 lbs.) and a grind to fit Kick-Eze on a T3 Lite Stainless 9.3 (7lbs.). Recoil is still " noticeable" on both not as sharp on the 9.3, but I think both pads are almost equal....I believe the Kick-Eze looks a little nicer. A slight difference in recoil could be attributed to the difference in cartridges and rifle weight....as far as choosing between the two I think it just becomes a matter of personal preference.
 
Well my hopes of finding one at the Calgary gun show went down the toilet today. Couldn't find a nice Willliams, Redfield or Lyman peep sight for my Marlin either. I did find a Canadian Tire recoil pad for $40.00 bahhahahaha. :onCrack:
 
I had to order mine in from Brownells. I shortened the stock on my 35 Whelen so I had to get the grind to fit. Searched WS in Calgary, Edmonton and Lethbridge as well as several smaller shops. The Simms website has templates for downloading to assist in choosing the correct grind to fit for your stocks dimentons. Same template comes with the pad. Very worthwhile to download first. To install, I used my rotary tool with a small stone. Worked very well. Polished it up with sanding disc. Pad works very nicely too, felt recoil in my rifle is +- 1/2.

Apparently the trick is to throw the Limbsaver in the freezer the night before you do the grinding and you get a better finish.
 
I was waiting forever for Wholesale to come through with them too -- then I got sick of waiting and went to P&D. They've got lots. (OR they did, at least) I use the slip on as well -- don't need it for hunting, so I just switch it to whatever gun I'm shooting at the range.
 
Huntsman/Comil, we put them in the freezer, lubed them and I think short of liquid nitrogen (maybe) it won't work. If we can't do a saleable job then we won't use them. Like I said we do use Kick Eez because they are better. This is what we do for a living.

I've found that a different belt is needed for the limbsaver.
I use the ones designed for cutting metal available from Lee Valley.
Made a big difference on the limbsavers I have done, but the keck eez finishes better as does the decellerator....

Kick eez finished very well on my .375 CZ it works way nicer than the factory puck. Was going to try a limbsaver but now I see there's no point. Thanx.
 
I just put a limbsaver on my Citori, and I shot 250 rounds the other day without getting sore at ALL!!! It definately works as advertised.

However, it IS a bit on the 'sticky' side, and can snag on your clothes as you mount the gun. Armour-all might do the trick!

The 'precision fit' ones aren't an exact fit, but it's close. The grind to fit ones will definitly look better on a higher end gun.
 
I had a decelerator on my ruger no 1,it did not help much.
The caliber was 375 weatherby magnum.I installed a pre
fit limbsaver and it made a whole lot of difference,you
could shoot without the flinch after more than a few rounds
The prefit was very good,no overlap.Regards 375rum
 
Negatory. There are BIG warnings on the packaging not to grind the precision fit pads - not only will it void the warranty (big deal, I know), but the air chambers are very close to the surface. I can't see how it'd be possible to even shave 1/16" off without wrecking it.

The grind-to-fit pads have nothing but solid rubber for about 1/2" around the outside. Precision fit ones do NOT.
 
I've installed a half dozen grind to fit LimbSaver pads with fantastic success. They look great and work perfectly. I haven't had any trouble grinding them down. I spray the belt and pads with WD40 using coarse belts to reduce the excess to about 80% and finish up the last bit with a finer belt using a wedge to keep the stock angle intact. Piece of cake. I like the grip the pads have when shooting off hand.
