I haven't received it yet, so I can't tell with my particular one. Some time ago, I went into my LGS to try, and the lever was stiff, but quite snappy and without hangups. (the "ratcheting" feel of some lever actions).

According to some Youtube reviews, the feed/ejection system likes shotshells with taller, rather than shorter brass. I shoot Federal, which apparently this SG likes. Shorter brass tends to have ejection issues after the first shot.
